Topic: CTD no matter what!

So here goes nothing...

I posted a question a day or so ago about having problems with the 2142 resolutions. Got a few hints but still cant ge. However, 2142 always starts and i can play the game, if only in 800x600.

Not beeing able to fix that problem i installed FS (its the why im trying to get 2142 running in the first place). The installation went smooth but now i cant get the damn game running. It ctd when i launch. I have done the +widescreen 1 thing and also added my resollution after that. But still the thing wont start. It behaves a bit different depending on what i write. if i only add +widescrren 1 it goes to a black screen then goes back to desktop saying it crashed. If i add my resolutuion 1920x1080 it stays in the black screen when it crashes and i get the window telling me so.

Is this all about me running win 7 64 or could i have spmething to do with the fact im trying to run the game on my tv via HDMI cable?

oh... and i saw a fix where you made sure to install fs before the launcher, did that, but it didnt help.

Re: CTD no matter what!

If you add +widescreen 1 then your resolution you will get a crash.

To add your resolution you just type +szx 1920 +szy 1080 in the launcher by going to file, preferences and typing it in the arguments field.

You can try to fix the crash by going to your installation folder (default C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142) and locate two files, FirstStrike.exe and Bf2142.exe. The BF2142.exe file may also be called BF2142launcher or BF2142Pace depending on your version. The BF2142 file you want should be about 6967 kb's if you running version 1.51.

Now, copy you bf2142 file to your desktop and rename it to FirstStrike.exe (note again, that depending on your local settings it may not show the file extension type). paste your newly named file back to the 2142 installation folder so it overwrites the existing FirstStrike file then try to launch again.

I'd also make sure you are running the most up to date drivers for your graphics card. I don't run via HDMI cable but can't see it being a problem.

Only other thing I could suggest would be to delete the BF2142 folder in My Documents to erase yourexisting profiles and settings, start the game and then manually up the resolution if it's possible.

Re: CTD no matter what!

I should get you a virtual cake, cause it worked. Only now the servers are red but i guess there is a way around that in the forum.

Thanks a million
