I got the same thing its very annoying :S
btw i play on a vista home premium laptop.
intel core 2 duo 2.20 GHz
2GB RAM
200 GB Harddrive at 5400 rpm
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS GPU (250MB)
i play via wireless through my router.
I also play 2142 v1.4 (withought expansion) perfectly fine on the highest settings. (+ with no lag)
i installed FS after i installed v1.4.
PS: both the sp and the mp FS mods are installed atm.

two glaring problems come to light in that description ...
Vista ...  and Laptop ...

2gm is not enof for vista for 1 thing.
playing online with a wireless connection isnt that good a idea either
and nobody says they did the manual update of punkbuster

well it seems to be enough for ram for every single game i play (which is on highest setting).(cod4,crysis(high but not highest big_smile )

its not a hardware problem so it must be the software not being compatible with vista or somthing (i know i hate vista too...)
wireless isnt a problem at all me and a friend play on the same connection sometimes (hes on comp im on laptop) and we get no lag in BF2142
i did the manual update of punkbuster too and i reinstalled

BF1.0 > BF1.25 > FS mp+sp > BF1.4

single didnt work on anything same problem (crashes after about 10% done while loading anymap) but i can play mp on some servers ( but there are no people in those) but not on the other as i get the wrong version problem. :S

you seems to be missing fs 1.1 that might make you have issues.. you could also go renaming your radial.cpb file in your folder too, (its hidden so you'll have to uncheck "hide hidden folders")
