It wouldn't look too right if a trooper just popped out of a droid, now would it?
If you reappeared back at the console, fine, but even then, I prefer that people go down with their droids.

Anyways, maybe the soldier's mind is linked directly to the probe, and when the probe is destroyed, the link is severed and the soldier goes into a vegetative state in which they are unlikely to return...  Try programming that . 

Is there any way the death can not be counted as a death?  Maybe you can search other mods for a teleportation script (In which when droid is at 1 health the pilot is teleported back to the terminal; just as a workaround, not suggesting teleportation as an openly used game feature) or some other idea of how to keep your soldiers alive.

On Endor, Imperial deaths don't matter- the ticket count doesn't go down. Its a non-issue really.

Just consider that the re-spawn time is how long it takes you to unhook yourself from the control unit (which blew up into a mess of wires when the droid died)
