In the Chinese versions , I heard that Mandarin is spoken by the empire , and Cantonese is spoken by the rebels

I strongly doubt that, seeing Mandarin and Cantonese are practically two different languages (the same way, say, Spanish and German are different languages).

oh, hehe i kind got a Lotr marathon in the other night, my familys been away in egypt lol, that and im good at remembering british actors lol not that, that has anything to do with it XD, good films though (hopefully Sir Ian Murray McKellen will be back in the hobbit)  need to read the books though i hear they are always better than adaptations of films lol

The books are great especially fellowship. You should read them and if you like them try your hand at the Silmarillion and the hobbit.
