Topic: Random Lockup of Game - Stops solid

ok i looked around and didn't see this listed anywhere. my game will randomly lockup and i have to alt-tab out and ctrl-alt-delete it get it to stop. it just gets frustrating when i start to get into the game, and then suddenly it sounds like stars wars techno has taken over my system. any help please.

my copy of 2142 is the deluxe edition. it's prepatched to 1.40.

i had to download ver 1 then update to 1.1

also this game runs choppy, i'm supposed to be able to play this on high specs but i have to turn it down to low. i kill everything in my tray and turn off my antivirus. any ideas?

Is your graphics card driver, sound card driver etc up to date? And is it only in First Strike or in vanilla BF 2142 too?

everythings up to date and it's just first stirke. bf2142 runs a little choppy but no lockups.

I used to have that problem with vanilla 2142, I updated my graphics card driver and it solved the problem.

does the sound go wonky and sound like its cycling through random sound effects?  If so I thought this was a problem with nvidia mobos and xfi soundcards, so I was forced to play with my onboard sound (realtek).

Maybe try updating your onboard sound drivers, or if you have done so, try to revert back to the previous ones (I know there has been a recent driver update for them, and I opted out of installing it, no problems here)

every driver is up to date. my windows install isn't that old. i just installed the Nvidia card like 2 weeks ago. i may try putting my ATI x800 pro back in. bf2142 seemed to play better with it.

Did you install the Nvidia driver from the disk supplied with the card or download it direct from Nvidia? Your cards quite old so the supplied driver will also be out of date
