Re: A pitch-dark wilderness map?

Personally i would love to see a map set on "Degobah"

Since this would be a totaly new set of scenery and since it would be pretty foggy and dark it would probaby change how the battle is played out.

Re: A pitch-dark wilderness map?

I made a pitch black map one time, everyone complained, so I deleted it.

Night maps are an extra pain in the azz.

Re: A pitch-dark wilderness map?

This map concept would work really well.

I'd offer a few suggestions.  First, strike any vehicles from the map.  Make it infantry-only.  I love the idea of small groups of soldiers sneaking around a pitch-black forest.

Second, include custom sound settings for the map (include modified default sounds or con files for existing sounds) so that footsteps can be heard from farther away.  Also, try to code sounds triggered by player actions, such as large underbrush making a rustling noise when a player passes through it.

Also, I'd actually give the map the slightest amount of light, but only within a small radius around the player so he can see brush and trails.  Use map fog to make everything far away pretty much black.

Re: A pitch-dark wilderness map?

Waitaminute, strike my earlier suggestion. Make it a winter map and have it be illuminated by the northern light. Not too much, just barely.

Ty: Was this an FS map? 'Cause I don't see how it would be that impossible. FS has so many sensor devices that this could work really well. And once a firefight gets started you know pretty well where everyone is anyway, from watching the self-illuminated bolts.

EXCELLENT idea for the winter map lol  That completely solves the problem of the stormies being too visible at night.

Snow camo!

Re: A pitch-dark wilderness map?

Yea it was an FS map, something about not being able to use the Special Forces night settings was making it extremely difficult.

I like that idea a lot.  Too bad they wouldn't be able to put in all the npc creatures though.  I personally wouldn't mind seeing it as lit up as it was in the movies.
