The 21 CW Mod for BF2 from Black Sand Studios has Pick up Kits, Point of Existence 2 also. So the BF2 Engine must have this code.

But: from a tactical Gamers Point of view the pick up kits make most sense if you use it for "Überkits", kits what are so powerful that they must be limited.
