Well, Battle of Yavin is not the only map which crashes the game, there is also Rhen Var. And something pretty strange, Punk Buster kick me but I don't know the reason ? I was just playing in windows mode by changing a value in the shortcut. sad

I have no problems with Rhen Va and the punkpuster problem could be: your ping is to high

bah, no "fix" work... game still crashed...+ if i can join successfully there is a graphical corruption that i notice...unplayable for yavin...only yavin ...other maps work fine...however, tomorrow I uninstall Vista and get back to XP ...the only reason i got vista for was direct x 10... but no performance gain noticed... direct x 9.0 works fine...XP im coming! smile

however, thx for your help guys smile

Ok I found out a way to play the game without crashing under Vista and GeForce graphic card. Just play in window mode. In your First Strike Shortcut, instead of 1 in the fullscreen command parameter, just put 0. That's all.

Concerning Punk Buster, I've just update the client and it works like a charm.

Mine works fine  in FULL SCREEN now !
This should work for any other laptop users out there and probably anyone using LCD screen...

I simply set the resolution to my laptop screens native resolution of 1440x900 .  I had not been able to do this before as it was not listed in Video Options as a resolution.
So I added +szx 1440 +szy 900  to the shortcut path  and bingo, perfect screen !  (Thanks to suggesting windowed mode which set me on the path to this)

So to sum up -  right-click on your FirstStrike  shortcut, and select properties.
Then in Target box, add +szx 1440 +szy 900  to the end of it (REPLACE 1440 & 900 WITH YOUR NATIVE SCREEN RESOLUTION)
