Topic: I keep losing my connection to the EA Master Server!

Got to say, right off the bat, your game is awsome!
I really do like it!

I can play the game for about 10 minutes at a time before I am disconnected by the EA Master Server. This happens every time and not just once in a while. I thought I read a thread about "run" or "set as administrator". I can't seem to find it again. Any ideas?

I have not tried BF 2142 yet to see if it has the same problem so I will do so now.

Unfortunately, this is an EA problem, whether you play regular 2142 or FS.  They say that they are fixing it, but it's been going on for a week or two.

I played 2142 for about an hour and a half and had no problems getting kicked off the Master Server. Then I tried FS again and I couldn't play because my comp froze up twice right about the 1 minute mark. So then I tried uninstalling and reinstalling FS v 1.2 and I got it to work for about 20 minutes and then it froze again. These were the hard freezes where you have to turn off the case because Ctrl/Alt/Delete won't work.

Now I'm going to try and uninstall and reinstall all of BF 2142 and the FS mod. If this is what it takes to play the game then I will do so because your game rules that much. This will be a minor inconvenience.

About the freeze thing:

Calculating the shaders can take a long time, so if your mod (or BF 2142) is reinstalled i can take up to 5 minutes from connecting to join.

-Defrag your harddrive after deinstalling,
-shut down your Virusscanner during installing
-and defrag after installing

Helps also against freezes. And never play with an activated virusscanner, this can also causes a freeze.

OK, I've defraged as Alreech has suggested. Uninstalled then defragged, installed 2142, restarted my computer, installed 2142 V 1.40, restarted my computer and then got 2142 to work properly including letting the first shader load up, restarted, then installed FSmod, restarted and defragged again. I'm still getting random lock ups. They aren't terrible. At this point I've been able to play the mod for hours before my computer freezes. I do understand that disconnection by the EA Master Server is an EA problem. I will still be playing the game even if I have to restart my computer every couple ours or so. Nice job guys on the mod. You deserve to be making money programming games!

Just FYI, my system is:
Gigabyte G8-KANF-9 MB
AMD 3200+ CPU
XFX Geforce 7950 GTXXX 512mb
SB audigy 2 ZS
1 gig ram
80 gig HD

I'm not expecting you guys to tune the game to my specific hardware but I thought you might like to know about problems that may still exhist in your game.

Hmmmmm.....You still get lock ups in 2142? FS is a little more intensive than vanilla. I think the lockups may be due to that 1gb ram stick. Methinks there may be a bottleneck in the system. If you can, throw another gig in there.

If it's random lockups then check all fans etc, perhaps a cooling issue somewhere as well.

Alrighty!!!! I'm going to continue this thread just because I care!

I have cleaned out the inside of my case just to make sure that there is no overheating problems and I have gone as far as reformating my HD and reinstalling Windows and all of my essential programs and games. I even defragged after installing eveything. I have the FSmod 1.25 hot fix and BF 2142 V 1.5. I still get the random lock ups as I have described earlier in this thread. It's not terrible but it always seems to happen right when I'm going to kill someone or something. These are very random-I.E. they can happen 10 min. into the game or they can happen 3 hrs into the game- and I would just like it to stop.

I'm not trying to come down on the DEVs because I still think that they have done a wonderful job in creating this mod.

I have a few of questions...
1. Did you ever play the "Galactic Conquest" mod for BF 1942?
2. Do you have any plans to make a "Fly-able" Millenium Falcon?
3. Do you have any plans to make playable Wookies, Jawas, Ewoks, Etc...?

All of these things would be cool and I will be following all of the progress that is made for this mod.
