Topic: The Lambda

Anyone have any success stories with the Lambda yet? When testing, I envisioned some grand scenes of the thing moving in over a hostile CP, guns blazing, landing only barely long to deploy troops who then proceeded to attack the CP, then taking off to lay down more suppressing fire.

Now that the mod has been out for some time, people surely must be starting to figure out how to start and fly the thing. Anyone got any good Lambda stories to share?

Re: The Lambda

We had just finished dropping off troops  on ryloth, when we decided to pick up these olive-colored chicks with strange hair. We set down on a high, remote plateau after they started to remove our imperial uniforms ...  I kept asking them if they wanted to learn to fly , but I think they had other Ideas.

Re: The Lambda

I'm starting to get the hang of it, I'll start you off with a mildly interesting story.

I flew it out, we had a textbook landing and took rebel bunker. I then flew us off to mines where i learned that using my throttle and 'W, S' keys together I could thrust fowrard a little to adjust LZ.
I got seperated from the squad later but spawned back on my squadleader, Gurd, as we were being chased back to base by some airspeeders.

We had a full crew almost and blowing up would have been disasterous... luckily witha  little creative flying from gurd and some jammy tail-gunning from me , we managed to kill one of our pursuers and reach the safety of the shield with about 10% hull left.

Kudos to the invisible ground crew who repaired our ship as we hovered over the platform.

Leaving with full health, our victory was marred slightly by an over enthusiastic squadmate trying to leave the lambda in flight....:S

Re: The Lambda

The problem in 1.2 was a) it's a rediculously huge slow target, so it usually draws in a large amount of flak and b) it wasn't nearly strong enough to deal with that flak.  Hopefully with this 1.25 patch it'll live long enough to be useful.

I'd definitely also like to put it on a far less air-intensive map, so it can act as is designed: a massive flying bunker.  If left to doing that I think it'd really come into its own.

Re: The Lambda

I say drastically cut down the number of fighters on Ryloth. Give the Rebs one Y-Wing and one or two T-47s. Give the Imps one TIE Bomber and enough TIE Fighters to counter the T-47s. This'll result in more players on the ground, which'll result in more actual combat and taking of CPs and less dogfighting - and a longer-lasting Lambda.

I'll download the 1.25, not that I can play it with my Internet as slow as it currently is. Hopefully the Lambda will have a more prominent role now smile .

Re: The Lambda

Hmm. I'm in favour of less fighters on Ryloth, and it will help.

less fighters means more T1-B missiles per fighter, as per the laws of supply and demand, and that would include the lambda too.

Seriously, supply box + T1-B = missile spam= killz. Unless some tie fighter RAM KILLS your tank.. twice.

Re: The Lambda

I have a secret hidey hole for doing that sort of thing. I also use it to repair my ship rather than go back to the hangar. Anyone else repair in the battlefield or do you go back to the hangar?
