Topic: Age of Conan

It cost over 200 million Norwegian crowns (400 000+ USD) and five years to make, and it's Norwegian! Anyone played the Age of Conan MMORPG yet?

Again, this is a huge project, far bigger than Norwegian Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. And it's Norwegian! And it looks far better than WoW, and is supposed to have far more direct controls, and will feature massive battles with catapults, cities, etc., like in SW: Galaxies. And you can build your own buildings and even cities, unlike in WoW (why can't you build stuff in WoW?). And it's Norse! Anyone play it?

I've got it, just started so I havn't even been off the starter isle, but it 's pretty cool.

It's alot like other mmos (cough, WoW) but it is very pretty looking and some of the end game stuff like building your own guild cities and sieging them sounds sick. Combat system isn't revolutionary or anything, but it does put in a bit more strategy into fighting(getting your opponent to focus their defenses on one side so you can pull off a combo move on their weak side)

...But don't try running it with anything but a fairly new (last year or so) PC or else it will look like bantha poodoo.

I played WoW a tiny bit and Galaxies for quite some time, and WoW didn't impress. You can't build houses or cities, you can't have huge Player-Vs-Player battles in designated areas (as far as I know), like you can in Galaxies, and the stats system is the boring old Level system where you get abilities regardless of what you actually do - as opposed to Galaxies, which had an ingenious level system where your actions actually affected what you grew better at (no more of that "Yay, I've been whacking these lvl1 creatures for hours, finally I've leveled up! This has taught me to cast fireballs!" bs that plagues most RPGs and MMORPGs).
