only certain types of trojans and viruses install correctly with the game patch... and the scummy 3rd parties - they always screw it up ...

sorry but what do you mean by 'vanilla'? neutral i found no mod called like this, or anything, on google... (keywords: bf2142 vanilla). ssorry i'm not a native english speaker.

Vanilla means BF 2142 (or BF2) without addons or mods.

I think even DICE has the term vanilla in a config of BF2 / BF 2142 to make clear it is separate from the Boosterpacks or Addons.

DVD Problems can be caused by the Copy Protection System of BF 2142, updating the Firmware of the DVD Drive can help, but there is a small risk what your DVD-Drive gets damaged while updating the firmware.

Make sure what no Viruscann is active while patching and the e5000 process works/ is not blocked by a firewall or something likes VISTAs security system.

The term vanilla comes from deserts where vanilla is generally the basic form of the desert then you 'mod' the vanilla to make it more yummy.

I'll give that a shot I guess, but it's stupid that it would only happen now.

I'm running XP and don't have a virus scanner, no disk image or any other software running either. So I'm pretty puzzled.
