In the defualt install location:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods\FirstStrike\localization\ there are two files called strings.csv and strings autorun.csv. (.csvs can be opened using MS Excel) These files are use to translate the mod from the generic variable name used by the game, known as the 'stringID' into the corrosponding phrase for various languages.

  Although looking at the files it appears that most of the French phrases are in place, so it will be hard work finding those that are missing out of the hundreds of strings. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE, EDITING IT MAY CAUSE SERVERS TO KICK YOU FOR MODIFIED CONTENT. MAKE A COPY OUT SIDE THE MODS FOLDER FOR YOU TO TRANSLATE.

  Once you are done we can stick it in the next version mod for all to use, it has to be officially included so servers don't kick you. Anyone is welcome to tranlate to their language as they wish, just remember to use the translations online you will need to have the file officially included in a firststrike release.

I had a 80% complete finnish translation, it sounded so ga... swedish that I deleted it.

But there was some players who played the translated version, so it would be cool to have French translation.

Salut Dexter!  Moi, je viens de Quebec et je suis anglais, mais il y a un plaisir que je trouve une autre personne ici qui parle francais.

Dans ce forum, il y a deux ou trois autres francophones aussi.  Parler avec lagueriniere.
