Dont forget that those cheap card usually die faster also.
You get what you pay for, ultimately, unfortunately.

If your vendor gives you a 3 year warranty this should not be a problem.
After 3 years the card is to old and you need a new, during the warranty you get in most cases a new card ( as long you don't have over clocked the card...).

But not only cheap cards die fast, a high price factory over clocked card can also die fast. It's not healthy for silicon to draw 200+ Watts wink

And the whole ATI vs Nvidea Intel vs AMD... all 4 companies have angry customers wink

Re: Graphic card suggestion

do you actually think that a vendor warranty has any bearing on the service life of the card ? lol
Im wishfull too sometimes.
Yes the expensive ones die at almost the same rate as the cheap ones. The fact is , they die , and I guarantee that over half of the installations create too much heat. Poor box arrangements...
I cant remember how many times Ive seen an upper-crust graphics card crammed up against another PCI card with its heat sink air intake millimeters away from the next card. lol.
Stuff like that, and wrapping your card in 80 conductor IDE ribbon so that no air can flow past it.
Thats another brilliant arrangement seen often.

8800 gts 512 is a good allrounder. You listed your comp specs but what size monitor do you use? The higher the native resolution the higher the spec card you'll need. Don't be tempted by the 9800 gtx, its basically a 8800gts 512 with a different sticker on it
