Topic: Best holiday location

Hey all,

So I'm still deciding where to go on holidays this summer. So here comes my quetion.

What do you guys think is the place to be in the summer of 2008?

Please only consider naming locations in Northern America or Europe. I'd prefer Europe  however smile

Re: Best holiday location

I've heard the Netherlands is nice. No, wait... tongue

Seriously, though, places I've been to:

Norway, obviously. Biggest obstacle is that prices are sky-high, and being a tourist there is going to cost a lot. Bergen might be a bit irritating to go to right now due to the large amounts of roadworks currently in progress due to the construction of a light rail system. Oslo is pretty run down as of now. You might consider not going to either for a few years. Trondheim is nice, though, and there are plenty of smaller towns (Bodø, Stavanger, Tromøs, etc.) that are really nice and cozy that you can go to. Trondheim is beautiful, too, with some really nice attractions.

Sweden I've been to only two or three times, but it's a gorgeous country, very similar to Norway but actually better in some respects. I feel the people there are friendlier than Norsemen, for one. I've been twice to the town of Karlstad and heartily recommend it. It's a beautiful, clean, friendly and peaceful town. Doesn't have any notable attractions that I can think of, though, so if you're after something more than peace and quiet, it might not have much to offer.

Other than that, Shetland is rather nice, and I'd personally want to go to exotic Iceland if I could go anywhere this summer.

Re: Best holiday location

I would say Italy for the history and weather, Ireland for its uniqueness. (excuse spelling)

Yeah, Ireland's a beautiful country- shame about the inhabitants. wink
We're having some crazy mixed up weather atm (what else is new) and it can't decide whether to be sunny or rainy.

If you're a party guy, go to Lloret de mar. It's a party city in spain.

Pack stuff, including provisions, tent, camera, binoculars and other stuff to keep you occupied, go to quiet body of water (quiet river, fjord, etc.), rent kayak, vanish promptly and stay gone for a week, kayaking and enjoying life.

cool
