Topic: Mandalorian Speeder

Right now the only options for fast, non-troop spawning, land transport are the speeder bikes and the Tatooine speeders.

I'm working on a map and the Tatooine speeders just don't look right inside of the cold grey walls of an Imperial base.

The only other option is the speeder bike.  Its perfect except for the fact that it can fly and would ruin the flow that I had in mind for my map.  Since the community has already grown accustomed to, and developed tactics for using the speeder bike in its current form, I wouldn't want it changed.   Not to mention its just too much fun to ride around in.

It would be nice, however, if mappers had a choice between non-flight and flight capable speeders for the Empire.  This is where the Mandalorian Speeder comes in.

With the proper color scheme it would be perfect sitting inside an Imperial base.  Especially, since the Empire is known to use the services of Mandalorian bounty hunters.

A non-flying variant of the speeder bike would work as well.  This would be easier as a new model wouldn't have to be created.  It could have a unique texture to differentiate itself from the flying variant.

On a side note, the Empire needs a counterpart to the Rebel Freerunner and the Rebels need a counterpart to the Lambda.  I'm sure you guys are aware of this,  just wanted to get it out there. smile

Anyway, just some thoughts.

Re: Mandalorian Speeder

It's a good idea, but too be honest, i don't think it's gonna happen. Don't wanna ruin the fun, but the team is trying to stay lore-accurate, and that speeder is from the kotor period, wich is a long, long, long time ago since ep4.

Re: Mandalorian Speeder

Yeah, it's unlikely I'm afraid. I too am of the mind that we need some sort of Imperial light troop transport similar to the Mos Espa Speeder. Heh, maybe something based off of the old classic Star Wars Figure Stormtrooper Transport toy?

Heh, that works.  Just as long as we get something that fills the roll that the Tatooine transport does and that will work as an Empire asset.

Re: Mandalorian Speeder

Heh, we'll come up with something at some point. Oh, I've gone all nostalgic now. I remember playing with that thing many, many moons ago. I didn't have that one but my best mate did so I got a chance to take it for a spin. Oh, happy memories.

Re: Mandalorian Speeder

We do indeed need an Imperial Combat Speeder counterpart. Something small, with a gun and room for four or so players. I guess the best thing would be if the devs just came up with something.

Alternatively, you could just ask someone really nicely if they could retexture the Combat Speeder to some colourless Imperial tone (grey, white, black, whatever). Would be nice to have, especially since there are Combat Speeders on Ryloth already.

On a side note, the Empire needs a counterpart to the Rebel Freerunner

But yes, ground maps need more vehicles. What I personally miss the most is a dedicated Imperial AA vehicle, and an Alliance  Heavy Tank.

Re: Mandalorian Speeder

Another idea - building on the non-flying speeder bike, shouldn't it be really easy to make a new speeder bike with some crates on the back as child objects? It'd make sense for speeder bikes in industrial areas to be used to ferry stuff around, and this'd also explain their sudden inability to fly. You could still have a second seat if you placed the position on top of the crates, or a bit closer to the first seat, if possible.
