I like all the guns I play with exactly as they are.
I play support mainly with the support bowcaster or MG-15 primaries, then the medic DLT-19 and T-10 alternatives, the trooper Disruptor/DLT-20A sniper alternative, and the heavy weapons T-21 and Mk 1. I really like the officer's DL-44 pistol, but I think the SE-14R is the best pistol of all.
Please don't change a thing.
As this topic has veered away from just guns onto other weapons, I have a little more to add.
I think the support class has altogether too much going for it. Not only does it have a superb primary gun in the bowcaster or MG15, it can also get points for ammo resupply and repair. As Woodrow alluded to, support can remotely defend a CP with three prox mines (you call it cheap, I call it a highly effective tactic given the available resources), and it can take out any armour going with the sticky detpacks!
I played vanilla 2142 a lot, and I thought the classes were very nicely balanced. I'd be happy to see all the standard kits rearranged to more closely reflect the vanilla classes.
For a start I'd take away support's prox mines and give the sniper just two of them, like the vanilla claymores. He's then got to find a support guy to get more, unlike the present situation where support can give himself as many PMs as he wants.
I'd also give the repair tool and detpacks to the heavy trooper, to make him more like a vanilla engineer, and give his deployable shield to the support. Also, if you take away support's repair tool, it can keep the ammo droid, because it will no longer be able to glitch repair points out of it...
Support would also get the shotgun equivalent, but lose the DEMP to the heavy weapons/engineer. Could the trooper kit be arranged so that if you select the sniper rifle you get two PMs, with the standard rifle you get frag grenades, and with the light blaster you get ion grenades (both taken from heavy weapons when it got the DEMP and detpacks)?
I play the Officer kit as and when appropriate; I regard it as being a vital part of a squad on most of the push-mode maps. That said, I often select either support or medic if I go down after placing a beacon, and I will only respawn as officer if I need to move a beacon. I'm led to understand it's not possible, but the only change I'd make to the officer class would be to make the Eweb/Mk II redeployable.
These are just ideas – I'm happy playing FS just as it is!
Finally, a bit of an advert:
Having teamkill problems because of utter retards walking into your prox mines?
Are you getting autokicked from your own server for no better reason than noobs have no sense?
Is playing on a busy space map a guaranteed way to lose points?
For virtually teamkill-free, fun-filled gaming, play only on servers with the setting 'FF Off'.
Seriously, it's what we've done at Rogue Tribe – and it's heavenly. If your server is running empty, you should try turning Friendly Fire completely off.

Mmm... vanilla!
