Re: Officer Kit Discussion
Ah, Secret Dev Knowledge !... How about a Secret Kit with dual Pistols as primary Weapons ?

Re: Officer Kit Discussion
If someone wanted to do the animation I would so love to do a dual pistols option. It'd be tricky though, what with the engine. But yeah, the officer pistol has the same projectile strength as the e11/a280, it is slightly more accurate, and unlike the other pistols it doesn't lose damage over range. The only difference between it and the other weapons is it's a single-shot, so bumping into a heavy machine gun when turning a corner isn't always the most pleasurable experience.

Re: Officer Kit Discussion
I honestly don't understand people who say the Officer needs beefing. He has a strong pistol and lots of useful equipment, from bacta canisters to a freaking heavy tripod repeating blaster with enough firepower to tear through an AT-ST and Combat Speeder. People who want an SMG or whatever for him just don't understand that he's not supposed to be a Rambo/fighting class, but a "Leader class". I've played Officer repeatedly and never gotten bored with him or felt "weak". Gunning people down with headshots with the pistol, placing a MKII and mowing down litterally a dozen stormies before I'm taken down, placing a spawn beacon in an unlikely place and turning the tide of the battle, keeping my troops going with ammo and bacta... the times in Mos Espa when my squad guarded Junkyard and Market and another squad guarded Slave Quarters and I ordered my squad back and forth based on the events around us... it's an awesome class and needs no beefing. If anything, it's the other classes that need tweaking to make them more dependent on him (Trooper should definitely lose the stupid UAV droid, or the droid should be nerfed or given another role). The Officer is highly useful. Removing the UAV Droid because it allows a trooper to avoid an ambush if the trooper use the droid ? What's how it suposed to be.
Really? So careful maneuvers, cunning tactics and ambushes shouldn't be part of the game? It should be head-on attacks only, with cunning being punished? I beg to differ. Troopers should attack, and if they should attack they must have the ability to check for an ambush. Without this ability the Trooper will simply refuse to go out for an attack, and set up an ambush...
So when you play other mods than FS, you never attack because you don't have a portable 1 foot spy sat that follows you where ever you go? I don't believe that.

Re: Officer Kit Discussion
The reason the officer kit gets used infrequently is the pistol. People play for points (your doing) and the officer kit doesn't give them the opportunity to get stuck in at the front line of attack where the points are made. Give him a E11 or A280 and see how much people use the kit. Why do people always want the trooper UAV droid nerfed, his ability to use it and the beacons are his only reason to be deployed in a squad, hes a combat trained killing machine. And don't whine on about the fact he gets granades, he gets 2, thats it. Maybe the same limitation per life should have been applied to the support class for prox mines. Take away the Troopers UAV kits just to force people to play officer is a dirty tactic not supported be FS's loyal regiment of Troopers

The intention of the Locater Box was for it to be the main source of UAV. It isnt nerfing the trooper to force the Officer upon you, it is reinstating the original goal. Troopers arnt supposed to be rambo's. THe UAV droid's effect on the gameplay only serves to isolate the trooper from any squad orientated teamwork/interdependency. Id would be interesting to see how many of the "UAV Droid lovers" actually take part in teamwork(esp. with an officer). I'd bet its quite a low percentage... afterall, there is little need to, you can just go off on your merry way and come looking for some supplies if needed. Why does the Trooper need to stay with his squad/Officer if the Officer's UAV isnt needed. Sure there is bacta , but a game centres around combat ... 1st finding it, then taking part in it and then post combat activities (heal etc) . ATM the trooper doesnt need anyone else in 2/3 of that mechanic FS is about teamwork and leaders. With good teamwork and good decisions turning the tide of battle. Using UAV is probably the most important part of any battle. Give the main UAV source back to the Officer with a human making decisions when and how to use it , rather than a constant stream of UAV from a non human player - leaving people just blindly following dots all the time. .

Re: Officer Kit Discussion
So remove the Troopers UAV capacity and what do you leave him to do? He can't heal or revive, fix, lay any kind of explosive or give ammo. Kill his ability to work with a squad providing the means to defend or attack a CP with UAV support whats left for him to do? Remove the UAV and in six months time you'll be asking why no one plays the kit, whats the point if can't you be of any benefit to your team mates. Also without Troopers with UAV your gonna have a good laugh remodeling the maps as entire squads run past each other, never knowing where the enemy is and the game suddenly becomes really dull, really fast. Fact is the officer kit is crap. Give him a E11 or A280 if you want people to use the kit and leave the trooper alone.

Come off it, people will always play the trooper class. It is the best Anti Infantry class. To say no-one will play it is totally absurd. His infantry killing is what he brings to the squad.... and I never said delete the UAV droid. Also give me a break about it becoming dull, or having to redo the maps. The maps , Entha apart, are setup to concentrate firefights. Suggesting that the Officer be given an E11, just goes to show you do not understand.
