Re: Officer Kit Discussion

If only Grapple Hooks worked. You could ditch the UAV droid and give him a grapple hook instead. That would help the squad in a different way, and some extra incentive to play the class(for those few totally fixated on having the droid - for some reason)

Actually, itt would be good if the sensor beacons could be picked back up. Don't think the engine allows that tho

Re: Officer Kit Discussion

Trooper UAV droid must go.

The easiest way to describe the problem I have with it is to liken the FirstStrike experience to playing in a server full of wall hackers.

Waiting for the enemy as they come around the corner only to have them know exactly where you are is highly annoying.

Its lame and it cheapens the combat experience.

The Trooper can be rebalanced by the Dev team if need be if the UAV droid is ever removed.

Kill his ability to work with a squad providing the means to defend or attack a CP with UAV support whats left for him to do?

Shooting at people at moderate range with his rifle, clearing buildings with his shotgun, sniping, laying smoke, flushing people out with grenades, laying homing beacons, giving suppressing fire, scouting, tracking enemy vehicles by slapping homing beacons on them, augmenting friendly vehicles by slapping homing beacons on them... need I go on? I could come up with a 1000 more smile .

Go on then.

Zyth if your sick of running around a a corner only to get killed by a Trooper with a UAV who knows your there maybe you should be running around as a squad member in a squad with a trooper?
Seems to me you've already made up your own minds on the why the Officer class isn't used and are gonna nerf the Trooper to get people to play the kit. Bury your heads in the sand to the fact most people don't want to run around with a pistol

Re: Officer Kit Discussion

hamsters damn this thread is eating at me.  Ok, my personal opinion/preference would be for the officer to have a gun better suited for defending himself in close or medium range combat.  Maybe a gun that only fires in triple burst?  Again this is my own personal opinion and nothing you argumentative whiny punks say is going to change it.

Re: Officer Kit Discussion

We're going to nerf the trooper to get rid of the unwanted gameplay Zyth just highlighted.  Has nothing to do with the officer kit or getting more people to use it.  The thread here was a questionaire to ensure that the kit is alright, because numerically it wasn't showing as high on the charts as I thought it should be.  The two matters of the officer kit and the trooper kit are unrelated.

And I think the code to repickup deployable sensors might work.  We'll add it to the next build to test

You don't get it.

The problem isn't that the enemy knows more than me. The problem is that ambushes, flanking, and other such tactics become virtually useless. Me staying with a squad with UAV doesn't change that one second - if I'm laying in wait with my squad to flank or ambush an enemy, it doesn't matter if we have 0 UAV droids or 10 - they'll still see and surround us.

Actually, I've said this before... I'm of the mind that all droids should go, relegated to a direct-control system like the probot. The Trooper's UAV droid is overpowered, the HWS's attack droid rarely if ever actually attacks, and the Medic's droid is not really needed and only gets in the way as you can place bacta canisters. The Support droid is the only one that's remotely useful.

Place some small (very small) launch consoles for various droids instead. Such as a crate with a HWS Remote in it, that you can "enter" to control the Remote directly. Would make it far more useful, and being able to fly around with a remote would add to the diversity of the gameplay experience. Likewise with the UAV - give it self-recharging "pings" that can be used like those of the sensor device, then let the player control it directly.

There'd still be droids, they'd just be more fun and less overpowered.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but a teamwork mod simply can't cater only to 1337 run-and-gun players. This just isn't Battlefront 3.
