I just think the map needs to be paired down to one attack route where the tanks can battle it out with infantry support giving ammo, shields, and repairing.

Also, I think the mod is suffering a bit from map bloat, or will in the near future after a couple more releases.  After Hoth comes out, Rhen Var Research Facility and Mos Nighttime should be dropped, I think.  If the bunker on Endor Strike Team is ever implemented properly and that map becomes 'complete' in its original intention, then Endor Clearing can go too.

Are you kidding me?

Mos Entha (nighttime as you call it) and and Endor Clearing are fantastic maps. They are great for getting a server running. Entha provides great close quarter combat and it's nighttime provides spectacular effects with all the laserbolts firing.
Clearing is great because you can snipe on it but still have room to manuever around to get to cp's.

Sorry mate, but as I'm concerred those are the 2 ground maps that make this mod great.

Re: Rhen Var Ice Plains.

Wow.  No.  Entha is by far one of the best and most beautiful maps we have.  Research Facility also is a strong solid and balanced map, and not one I'd put on the list to be removed.  And even if such thoughts were prudent, public forums are not the place to discuss them by any means.

Samzi: the spacemap 16p's are the same as the 32p's only with less ships.  makes for more intense combat.

Re: Rhen Var Ice Plains.

None of the maps currently in FS are bad enough to warrant deletion. Mos Entha is the only non-Push ground map we have, which makes gameplay prone to collapsing into squads running around in circles, and there are a couple other maps too which have problems, but none of that can't be fixed. As for Endor Clearing, the only reason I can think of to dislike it would be that it's relatively simplistic, and that doesn't seem like a reason to delete it.

Don't even think about touching Mos Entha. With proper teamwork you are able to box your opponent in and take the last CP from them. The good thing is that even when boxed in a squad can brake through the lines and capture another CP, opening the entire match again. This map is fantastic for heroics and teamplay. It leaves the player some options and makes them think about approach and tactics. We played it in a clan match and I found it great when working out a tactic for it.

It sounds to me, you should play the game a little more in public Safe-Keeper. You would be amazed at how some of these maps play with the public players on them.

Re: Rhen Var Ice Plains.

Mos Entha is the best map by far (IMO) because it's the only non-push-mode map. It's like a massive game of chess trying to box in your opponents while they try to do the same. No two games ever run the same, and things can turn around in minutes.

Endor Clearing seems simple, and can be, but again things can easily turn around if you're not careful.

Rhen Var Research Facility is a beautiful map, and I'd play it if it weren't for that awful black patch graphics glitch that makes Stormtroopers visible at about 300 yards...

Back on topic, Rhen Var Ice Plains is a boring map with too few players (as is Bestine), but one of the best on a busy server. I've not seen the 16-player size, though.

More non-push-mode infantry-only maps à la Mos Entha for me, please!

Re: Rhen Var Ice Plains.

You have a point there. With teamwork, Mos Entha isn't hard at all. All you need to do, and I can't for the life of me understand how this is so hard to get, is defend. 99% of the time, I see a squad cap a CP, then leave. The enemy takes it back - and leaves. The other squad comes back, recaptures it... and leaves.

The Mon Calamari map for GC was like this, too. People didn't realize that once you'd taken a CP, you had to protect it, too, not just leave. As a result, everyone hated the map.

[Remembers defending a CP in Mos Entha only to be yelled at and vote kicked for "camping" hmm ]

EDIT: Though after playing some rounds of Vanilla BF2 for no nostalgia's sake... I'm so happy FS doesn't do regular Conquest mode on other maps than Mos Entha smile .

Re: Rhen Var Ice Plains.

I agree, Entha is fine, just needs to be played right

Clearing was the very first map i set foot on back then, and the public version is actually almost as fun as those early test sessions - i vote for not deleting, not even touching it

Edit: If you HAVE to delete a map, then Ice Plains (thats just me of course - I despise the tanks sad)
