Re: Player model on selection screen

Ignore these freaks, Redshirt.  Their best attires are made of brown paper bags, abit of moldy cellatape and a pocket full of fish guts.

There are some of us who like to kill in our sunday bests. We also like to kill on a full stomach. These cretins cant afford anythin more than a tin of sardines.

Re: Player model on selection screen

I never heard about anyone caring for the looks of his OWN player model in a "First-Person-Shooter" -
when will you actually see it?

But coming to think about it, id probably prefer to kill in my short black one
(looks hot and provides Distraction-points tongue)

When in the squad selection screen, so when you see your friend who's just like you, you just know, you get that tingly feeling of: I look just as cool as that guy over there.... *sigh*

But as I remember, it was impossible.

Now now the EU recon, light armour is far superior in looks to all the other models in bf2142, By choosing the model on the looks helps me get a feel for the class and helps with immersion. Whats the point in playing if you don't feel immersed in the gameplay. Why don't we just go for boxes with 2 different colours if looks mean nothing?

Customisable appearance was a feature of BF Vietnam, but it was dropped from BF2 and BF2142 – presumably because not many players actually gave a damn. You can't see yourself in most FPSs, so how it helps with "immersion" is beyond me, but hey, whatever floats your boat!

All I needed to know in vanilla was that the orange guys were EU and the black (white in NS) were PAC, then I tried to shoot the appropriately coloured target. I played all the kits with heavy armour, because it made more sense to me to be able to stay alive rather than be able to sprint further. Looks absolutely did not come into it for me, but if you could see me, you'd know that's true in real life, too!

In the meantime, you'll just have to look around at the other players to try and figure out what you look like. Remember also that in First Strike the same faction kit has a different appearance on different maps.

Or you could just try the different kits and see which ones you like playing regardless of appearance. I like playing support, even though it makes my bum look big!

Mmm... vanilla!

Re: Player model on selection screen

I want an authentic looking 'bozo the clown' outfit, complete with big floppy red shoes.
wouldnt that be scary to be chased around the map by Bozo?
I would be sure to check my appearance before every battle, to build self esteem.

(I do think I would be momentarily seduced by pams short black dress, before realising  she was trying to kill me)
