Re: Republic Commandos

I, Jedi. Superb Star Wars book, a must read for any fan IMO, it is set after some of the other books though but they aren't really required reading for that one.

The Thrawn Trilogy is supposed to be really good.  That's what I'm going to start next.

Aye, that is a good place to start, that set of novels pretty much put in place most of the framework now used by the post Original Trilogy Expanded Universe, and it was here that the Imperial capital planet finally got given the name Coruscant, and it stuck, so in a way that planet was the first EU character to appear in the movies.

Re: Republic Commandos

The thrawn series is unrivaled in the SW eu universe. If you want to start somewhere start there. If you fancy a couple of short stories, try Tales of the bounty hunters and any tales of for that matter.

Fantastic stories about characters that make short appearances in the movies, but you get some great background about. Watching the movies will never be the same.

Re: Republic Commandos

My fav series was the NJO era.

Re: Republic Commandos

Reading Shadows of the Empire right now, good so far, it sheds a lot of light on Vader's relationship with palpatine.

Hoping it'll be as good as it seems so far.

Re: Republic Commandos

I used to get star wars books from the libary all the time when I was younger, but being a library you could never really read books in order you just had to borowed what was on the shelf.

As such I'm a fan of "Han Solo Trilogy III:Rebel Dawn" having never read one and two. It give really great incite into the background of everyones favourite smuggler and also the birth of the rebellion.

Despite hating the whole yuxzngskm vong war (or how ever you spell it), I thoroughly enjoyed the book "Traitor". It was truely one of the most engrossing star wars stories I have ever read and the final battle was perhaps the most epic ending ever. (Its worth noting that there is no point reading this book if you have never read a star wars novel, it will make 0 sense. According to wookiepidia it was the first SW novel to not feature a single character from the movies)
