Topic: Epic

I would like to thank everyone that joined Rouge Tribes server last night. Allthough it was a bit laggy now and then, there is only one word for the games we played. Epic.

Seeing 20 odd tie fighters leave the Deathstar Hangar leave at onces is just fantastic.

Words can't even start to describe how great this mod is with a filled server. Thanks to the Dev's for making this work. Great stuff. Can't wait to see a filled server and Hoth in the map rotation.

Re: Epic

Aye, was epic but a little laggy for me, still it definitely brought home how cool this mod can be when the server is fully populated. Here's to plenty more nights like this one.

Was a little chaotic though, I think a few new players need to head over to the Wiki and read up on what everything does and learn to follow orders and realise that good teamwork is absolutely the only way to win in this mod (for Sith's sake when in capital ships on Taloraan stick together! roll). Once they do that these games will still be epic and a lot more fun to play.

Re: Epic

I played some truly intense rounds and thought "This is what First Strike is about". Intense is the word I'd use. Incredibly intense. In one or two cases I was literally panting after a particularly busy fight. I'm not used to this kind of full, fast-paced, servers when playing FS big_smile .

Endor Strike Team, Lower Woods, blaster shots everywhere, seemingly from every direction.
Battle of Ryloth, fighters all over the sky, vehicles getting torn to shreds, infantry scrambling for cover.

BattleRecorder should have been on hmm .

But I agree with Talon, teamwork's definitely the way to go. I'm not even talking about hardcore VOIP teamwork, although there was a bit of that, too. With "teamwork", I simply mean forming squads and having everyone stay together. I think today's games made that abundantly clear. This especially applies to space maps, which are so huge that they frankly aren't fun without both teams staying together.

Re: Epic

So... much... blaster... fire.  And again, there's still nothing like running through it with just a pistol in your hand, winning the day.

Our spacemaps are once again improved.  Space combat is a lot more even and balanced, and the fighter firefights are more exciting now we can actually see the TIE Fighters again!  The capship combat also was pretty good on taloraan today (or at least the 32p version).  We got some great fleet action in, which is an awesome sight to see all the capships going to war together in a single formation.  Fighters buzzing between the hulls as the corvettes spearhead in front of the nebulon B, the Gallofree cutting between them to support the ships as they take fire.

And the firefights as well when the ships are together: super epic.  Amazing to see all the guns (both the turbolaser batteries and also the anti-fighter turrets) cutting into the hulls of the enemy ships.  Torpedo strikes coming in from enemy bombers, the odd massive explosion as capship after capship ruptures and explodes into the cold void of space.  I have to admit on a good game of taloraan there's nothing that has come before that even compares to the scale of combat we have.

Why didn't they do something like this in 2142, and let people pilot titans directly!

Re: Epic

I was on there for a bit, when the map was Mos Espa, and I kept getting killed by the AT-ST sad

but still, it was a lot of fun.

Re: Epic

Yeah, sorry.  The AT-ST is my own personal specialisation.  If you spot me driving it your best bet is to fall back and regroup because it's guaranteed I'll have a squad of stormtroopers advancing below me.  wink
