Topic: Squad up (friendly reminder)!
OK, so 1.3 hasn't been out for that long, but we've still seen some incredibly intense matches and I'm glad to hear the positive feedback the mod's received . I've noticed one thing, though - that some of the matches were pretty uneven, with one side consistently winning and the other one getting its butt kicked. This comes in part from the fact that in some rounds, us testers and clan members all ended up on the same team (regrettably ), but also from the simple fact that if one team squads up and keeps its players staying together while the other doesn't, it's pretty much won the game. Look, I realize the mod is new and that you may feel like taking it easy and explore on your own. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. FS offers a whole lot of new equipment and other features and can appear very unintuitive to new players. But trust me - simply joining a squad and sticking with it will make the mod so much more rewarding, simply because you're far more dangerous as part of a group of soldiers attacking or defending together than when you're on your own. This means more kills, more CP captures and defends, more enemy vehicles destroyed, and most important of all - less dying. Joining a large squad also unlocks certain devices in your kit which aren't available to lone wolves. In short - the thing to keep in mind for those sitting on the fence wondering if they should be lone wolves or squad members is that while FS doesn't force gameplay, but it sure as Heck makes sure to reward it . Either way, welcome aboard and good luck out there. Hope you'll join us in the Friday community game, which I promise will be a fairly special event .

Re: Squad up (friendly reminder)!
Advice taken. I'm new to the mod and the community, so I don't know many people here, thus I usually end up lone wolfin' it, but I'll try and get in a crew next time. The JKA clan I'm apart of is trying to get some people into this mod, hopefully if we get enough people on there we get form our own squad and roll out

Alright kids, listen to safe-keeper. By a lot more rewarding, he means, A: You get to use a lot more of the awesome gear you have, rather than just some of it. A few cool little gadgets are locked until you join a squad with a certain number of people in it. Next to that, you'll perform a lot better. If you're organized, you can capture a base in seconds: You can find some cover, set up a few sensors, drop some bacta and ammo, and you'll be ready for anything that comes your way. Now, if you wander in and try to capture it alone, you'll get shot up pretty fast, no matter what class you are. Lastly, if you're going to be a squad leader, be sure to know how to give orders efficiently. The squad leader is the guy that makes everything work, telling troops where to go and how to take care of everything. If he doesn't give orders at all, or just does a very bad job of it, your squad isn't going to do very well. This goes hand in hand with, if you're not the squad leader, LISTEN to whoever is. You might have a perfect squad leader with a well balanced squad, but if nobody listens, you're screwed from the start. Ok. I'm done blabbering. EDIT: Oh, yeah. And only be a certain class if you're GOOD AT IT. Please. I hate it when we get a whole team of heavy weapons guys because they just think the mortar looks cool, but they're in reality no good at actually using it. Don't hesitate to become a medic if your team doesn't have many. The same goes for support, trooper, and even officer. Every class makes the team work, but you have to have them all spread out evenly. The way to get this together is just to take some time to try the classes and find out what you're really good at. This can take some time, but it helps in the end. One last bit is "What you're good at" isn't just measured in the kills you make. If you're good a reviving and healing people as medic, or resupplying people as support, or deploying shields as heavyweps, that counts just as much as how many kills you have, since you're effectively helping out your team. OK...now I'm really done blabbering.

I have to say, well said. S-Guy wrote:EDIT: Oh, yeah. And only be a certain class if you're GOOD AT IT. Please. Way to take a page out of my book And yes, squadding up and teamwork is KEY.

Re: Squad up (friendly reminder)!
Yeah. The reason I'm writing all that is because of the evil match where we had NO MEDICS, uncoordinated squads, NO SUPPORT, a couple officers, and way too many troopers. Freaky.
