Re: Im like a star wars Dictionary. Ask me anything star wars

Oh I know trust me, I bought a bookshelp mainly to hold all the movies and games I have but nearly half of it is filled with Star Wars books alone. With NJO riding at 19 all on its own its a fair few.

Yeah, Sith are never mentioned in the original movies themselves, I know, but can't remember off hand where it was first mentioned, but it was way before the prequels, it may have been in a novelisation or something, I remember it was from a canon source not EU.

Ah come off it, you folks might be too young or long -in the tooth , but Vader was called the Dark Lord of the Sith , since the earliest storybook read-along novels , its on the early TOPPS Trading cards , it's on the old record LP, and it's in the early TIME magazine articles , it was even part of the narrated records THE Story of Star Wars .   Lucas even spilled the beans about FETT and the Mandalorians, the Mustafarr lava duel ,  in the EMpire Strikes Back cover story for TIME magazine back when that movie came out.
I had been waiting for Revenge of the Sith for over 15 years knowing for years  that Anakin had dueled with Obi Wan over a lava pit or volcanoe , and the resulting wounds created Darth Vader .  Lucas was more talkative to TIME and Star Log magazines in the 80's , and he revealed things such as Boba Fett is part of a warrior clan called 'mandalorians" Mandalorian Shocktroopers make Stormtroopers look like crossing guards , now obviously he made the Clone Army from his concept of the mandalorians , and Fett was technically one of them . the novels and games have borrrowed and re-intrepreted it, as has the new Trilogy.

That is kinda exactly what I just said mate, that the term Sith was around for ages (pretty much since Star Wars first came out), just not actually mentioned in the movies themselves.

Also the Mandalorians are not the Clone Troopers of the prequel trilogy, they are the warrior people that Jango Fett was a member of. He, and later his clone/son Boba Fett wear the armour of a Mandalorian Supercommando. Lore from back in the days of the original trilogy used to state that these guys were fierce warriors during the time of the Clone Wars, though it never mentioned who's side they were on, but it gave the impression that there was a whole army of the guys. So all this kinda changed once the prequels came out and the Mandalorians as a fighting force were never seen which was a shame, I was looking forward to seeing them facing up against Clone/Stormtroopers or Jedi, that would definitely have been something to see.

Adding young Anakin to the return of the jedi blue ghost scenes with old ben and yoda.
that kinda ticked me off..and they were using the force.. so my conclusion.

I know, from Lucas' POV, it was to tie in the prequels with the OT, but it makes sense in a way since that was how Anakin was before turning into Vader.

That could be one point of view, and a valid reason for the change, but it does seem to go against the whole idea of Vader/Anakin's redemption and return to the light. The whole point is that at the end he has turned back to the light side of the Force. Therefore his Force ghost should really be the older Anakin to reflect the fact that the older Anakin had been redeemed, rather than turning back the clock 20 years to when he was last a good guy it should be celebrating the fact that he was now once again a good guy. Of course this is just my opinion and the argument easily goes either way on this subject.

wink

Problem there tho is that the older Anakin..... had no freaking arms or legs! big_smile

Perhaps with the new CG animated CLONE WARS debuting in theatres this month, and later on SPIKE TV cable and Cartoon NETWORK cable channels, Lucas will fulfill the story of the Mandalorians , the exodus of the Tatooine slaves by Anakin as foreshadowed in Ep1 TPM , Lucas has kept the Clone Wars a sacred cow only left for his own intrepretations for years until recently.
Im hoping the Jedi females such as Ayala Securaa and Shakk Tii get a good backstory , as will the Clone officers , Bly, Gree, ect. Maybe they will weave the Black Sun into the time of the Clone Wars , time will tell.

It's about time we had a Sith turn his/her back on the darkside and join the Jedi Council and give them less action-hero/comicbook persona's.  I remember watching A New Hope when I was young and getting a sense, from Obi Wan, that Jedi were quasi wizards with a bit of mystery about them. The prequels have kinda killed that aura so far.

Re: Im like a star wars Dictionary. Ask me anything star wars

If you are after that sorta thing you could look to the comics featuring Quilan Vos that I mentioned earlier, he wasn't a Sith, but he went to a pretty dark place for a Jedi and would probably be the sort of interesting more conflicted Jedi character you'd like to see. He was kinda like the Dirty Harry of the Jedi Order. Since he was mentioned in RotS maybe he'll make an appearance in the  Clone Wars series.
