Topic: Help, says invalid cd-key when trying to play

Hello, I'm new here to the community, and just downloaded the mod along with v1.3.  Everything installed just fine, and loaded up great.  However, when finding a server (only one showed up) and trying to connect to it, it states "invalid cd key" in a popup.  I don't know how this could be so.  I've had 2142 since its pre-release back in 2006, and it's the same one i've been playing on the entire time.  Any help/advice would be great, I really want to play this.

Re: Help, says invalid cd-key when trying to play

I've uninstalled everything and am going to start from scratch and see if that will fix it.  will post back afterwords.

Re: Help, says invalid cd-key when trying to play

is the disk a copy or is it damaged ?
copies are bad news.

Re: Help, says invalid cd-key when trying to play

It is the digital download from the EA downloader. I uninstalled everything a re-installed it again, but it either says something about the cd key, or it just crashes straight to the desktop and gives no error when trying to connect to the server. Thanks  Specs:

Re: Help, says invalid cd-key when trying to play

Ah I remember this , you have to contact EA games, and tell them the issue on their help forums ( sounds like a pain in the a$$, but its pretty simple once you attempt )
In my case I bought mine online and the key was no good, they reset me to a skeleton key , and all is fine.
3 downloads = 2 bad keys , thats about the ratio.
