Topic: Bases of Star Wars weaponry

I know that there are a whole lot of weapons in the star wars universe based off the MP-44 or StG-44, the MG-42, and Mauser pistol from WWII. And even the lewis gun (T-21) and sterling SMG (E-11). But are there any of them based off some of the more famous WWII weapons such as the Thompson, M-1 Garand, or MP-40? I have yet to find any. I wonder why.

Re: Bases of Star Wars weaponry

Because he wanted to pay a sort of homage to WWII, sort of a nod towards his inspiration to it. He didn't want to make a futuristic version of WWII. Him being George Lucas...A more simpler answer is you wont find any based off the hot weapons of the time:P

Re: Bases of Star Wars weaponry

In actual fact, many of the gun props in the first Star Wars trilogy are re-purposed WWII gun props because movie studios had TONS of WWII props sitting around due to the amount of war movies they regularly made.

Why do you think there were so many Star Trek episodes involving Nazis, as well?  Costume and props departments have a lot of stuff in storage from old war films smile

I can definitely see the Thompson in the rear grip, trigger, and bolt part of that pulse rifle.
