Topic: Sound Issues in FS & 2142

My problem is I was playing FS and the sound was cutting in and out, ie I could only hear lasers and ship sounds every once in a while and generally bad sound. So I loaded up 2142 and I am experiencing the same problems, but the sounds in 2142 sound very mute and weak. Anyone else experience this or have a work-around? I really don't want to reinstall everything....

Intel C2D E8400 @ 3.0Ghz (no OC)
4 Gb G.Skill PC6400
EVGA 8800GT
Seagate 250GB SATA
Onboard NIC with 8.0Mbps Cable
Onboard Realtek HD Audio w/ Klipsch 2.1
Win XP SP3

A wonky sound card or driver most likely.
i had something like this happen, but it cause i had a 16 bit soundblaster plugged in for the game-port.
try updating your sound card driver, or uninstall / reinstall via the control panel.
If all fails, put in a cheap card to test hardware.

also make sure the in game sound settings aren't whacked out.
EAX options can be wrong.

yeah, reinstalling 2142 did not fix the issue. downloaded the new realtek hd audio driver, but now my current driver throws an error when i try to uninstall. checking the realtek forums now for a solution. will keep you posted.

try uninstalling it in save mode. F8 during bootup with most pc's. cant get in save mode that way, turn off pc while you see the XP logo and loading bar. you should get a option list next time you bootup.
