What I was reminded of by the CG was that you sometimes simply have to work together to be successful in FS. Many times on Bestine I saw someone grab a Combat Speeder and tear off with it into the Cliff Steppes CP, which either meant death, or worse, that the speeder fell into Imperial hands.
To take the City Steppes, you need to grab that Freerunner, fetch as many Combat Speeders as you can (I believe there are two in the city below the Steppes, not sure) and then gather your team and make your push. You should at the very least have the APC Freerunner going slowly up the hill with her aft-mounted gun facing the enemy.
Oh, and patience is key. Don't rush up the hill. Go slowly, pick off Imperials as you go, and make sure you've got your infantry with you, including at least one Support guy to repair. Sure, organizing this is difficult, but it's more than doable.
Another thing I noticed from watching the BR reels: don't park the Combat Speeder away from the action for then to go in on foot. The Combat Speeder isn't just a transport, it's also a very potent killing machine with its repeater gun, so make sure you let it take part in the fight. Oftentimes on Mos Espa, which I end up playing far more than Bestine for some reason, I'll spawn in the Commercial District and grab a Combat Speeder, for then to drive it to within line of fire of the action and hop from the driver's seat to the repeater. The gun doesn't have as much stopping power as the tripod MKII, I think, but it packs one heck of a punch and will mow down infantry, especially if you're careful and make sure to retreat when your health or your speeder's hit points are running low. The thing can practically win the fight for you all on its own.
OK, now that I'm done babbling, I'll try to get some nice screenies.
