Topic: Why does nothing Mac Work?

I downloaded first strike 1.2 last night, all 1.07 gigabytes of it. I go on and find no servers. "ok i guess I'll have to play single player. i start loading the game on the mos entha map but when I press the Join button,it crashes the game. "ah. must be because its my first time playing." i boot up the game again, and the same thing happens. jump to today, when i see that if i turn off the "populated" filter, i get some live servers. but, i can't get into one, because it takes me back to the multiplayer server list when i press join, but it doesn't crash, so it's a start! i get a dialogue box with the header: header_modifiedcontent i suspect that it might be because I'm using a mac and the servers are all 1.3 and as far as i can tell, there is no mac-specific 1.3 update.

Single player doesnt work at all for First Strike, as it wasn't included in the mod.  Trying to load it will cause all people to crash, not just Mac users.


There currently isn't a full 1.3 mac installer because there was no call for it on release, I could suggest trying the normal 1.2-1.3 patch.  I have no idea weather or not it will work, but its worth a shot.  It wasn't designed for mac, but considering the installer looks for your 1.2 folder, and installs/replaces the new files in that folder, I can't see why it wouldn't work the same as normal.  Thats only a guess though, but hey, if it works thats only good.


All the First Strike servers are running 1.3, hence why you get the modified content message when you attempt to join.  I'm sure now that someone has requested for it, the devs will work on a mac patch for either 1.3 full, or making the 1.35 installer compatible with Mac.

DUKE815: Teamwork's complicated.  I've found that ramming a Lambda with a Y-wing at full boost is most effective.

If you run 1.2 and go multiplayer > local and create a map does it work? If so I'll make a 1.3 the same way as 1.2

We never made 1.3 because everyone said the 1.2 for mac did not work.
