Topic: New update won't start

Apparently an update was released today... when I click on the FS launcher and then click the option to launch, it's just sitting on "[Fri Dec 26 20:58:48 2008] checking for new updates.." and nothing more happens...

There were no updates released for the public version today. There was, however, an update for the launcher itself.  Go to File -> Preferences in your launcher.  The current version should be 1003.  Then do help -> About and the launcher version should say "0.0.8.0"

Try File -> Check for updates.  That shold do more than just "checking for new updates".   The fact nothing else is happening for you shows us the possibility of anew problem.

What happens if you close the Launcher, start it again, and check for updates? Does it still stop at "checking for updates"?

Just be patient.  Checking for updates can take a minute or so.

I've got the versions you mention above, did the "File -> Check for updates" and still it just sits there. BTW - I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 and FS worked fine before the updated launcher. I may try a reinstall, but I won't have time for that until Sunday.
