Bimmiel, Lok and Null all have 3D grass, or "undergrowth" in mapper's jargon. Perhaps it's your graphics settings hmm ?

It's admittedly concentrated pretty densely in a lot of the maps, though. If density was turned down significantly and it was spread out more, perhaps that'd work better.

Well, that would be nice but I would like to see two additional maps in the rotation as opposed to just one.  Not to mention there would be less to render if split up.  Thinking of it in my head, it just seems that the devs could easily do so and both maps would be pretty huge.  I don't know, I'd just like to see more close quarters maps and less running around (especially when there is less then 10 players online which seems to be the case at least when I play).  Not to mention, if there was only one Hoth map, I'd want to play the 64p version with AT-ATs and I'm sure that I'm not alone there.  smile

As far as I'm aware only the 16 player would be considered a Walker free zone, and even that is still open to discussion. The problem with a Hoth map, is that people are going to expect Walkers in there, to get the full experience. The way I see it personaly is that all the sizes of Hoth map should feature Walkers and the Rebel Base as that is what the map is there to depict, what should change with the map sizes are the number of Walkers in play and the portion of Echo Base (restricted areas for 16 & 32, and the full base for 64) that you get to play in.

Having two maps for the exterior and interior battles of Hoth is a possible option, but we'd want to look at trying to encompass it all in one map before we'd turn to that, and as the beta and test builds since have shown we have ample room in the available map space to do the exterior and interior battles on Hoth justice in one map, it is just a case of how the map fares with optimisation once we have all the fully detailed assets on there.

We'll keep you all informed with interesting updates on our progress with this in the future.

Can one Hoth map involve the Rebels prepping the transports for takeoff in a race against time? 

It could be that a Reb gets into a transport and has to stay in it while it is "loaded" with evacuees, perhaps over 5 minutes time.  In the meantime he and another Reb could man the turrets, holding off waves of Imps until the transport is ready to take off...  Or until it's premature destruction.

For all I know that's how it already is, or you guys have a better idea, I dunno, I'm pretty out-of-the-loop.  I'm just tired of Conquest maps, I want some Defend and Destroy maps for once.

We only have one or two "destroy the X" missions for now, and they are in space.  Wouldn't mind seeing some ground stuff like that too.
