Fist thing any Vista user should do when installing Vista or buying a computer with vista is switch  off UAC, its a pain in the @ss

UAC has its place.  Its place is not in a PC mainly used for Gaming.  UAC saved DS's server a few times, stopping some people trying to gain access and run malicous software on our box.

I'd be more careful with those dubious tips...

Its everybody's choice to keep it off or on, but please dont recommend sacrificing basic safety precautions to everybody in here. Many of those prolly dont even know what UAC is or what it does.
Yeah, its a pain -  but it wasnt made for annoyance or generating more mouse-clicks only.

I recommend running a virus scan when you turn on your computer and before turning it off.
If you run your comp with UAC off. Just to be safe.
