Topic: Modders: BFeditor.org gone? Details on how to get to it in here

Because my mind isn't all it once was I'm also posting this for myself, but I thought I'd best publish this at least somewhere.  I'm also posting it in our general chat as that's where most people look for stuff (more than in, say, our modding forum).  Anyhow, for any modders out there, BFeditor.org has been the central modding forum since BF2 came out (before even for some of us).  A couple of days ago though they forgot to pay their bills apparently and their domain name expired.  As such the site seemingly vanished with nothing but adverts to replace it.

After a bit of detective sleuthery by myself and Imperial (well mainly Imperial) we figured out that the server is still running, just the domain is gone.  To access it though you will have to edit your "hosts" file inside c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\  folder and add this line at the end (then save):

207.38.10.238    bfeditor.org

This will point your computer to that IP address and tell the webserver what domain name you're going after.  If you just put the IP in your browser you'll get the webserver's root page and won't be able to get any further.

But doing this should get you back on bfeditor.org.  Hope that helps mateys smile

CYNIC, n. A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be. Hence the custom among the Scythians of plucking out a cynic’s eyes to improve his vision

A domain costs 8 bucks a year at godaddy. I'm sure whomever has it could afford another year or two unless it's been ninja'd

I talked to Scott from planet battlefield, he's going to try and get the domain sorted.  I think they just forgot about it.
