Topic: FS launcher problem

i installed 2142 again yesterday along with 1.5 update,
then i installed FS 1.4.
the launcher doesnt work for me i have searched this forum for hours trying every possible solution, the outcome... still not working.

so when i double click FirstStrikeLauncher.exe
it either says "in order to play first strike, you must have battleield 2142 installed"
or it says "errors occurred see the log file"
wich says "    Traceback (most recent call last):
                       File "FirstStrikeLauncher.py", line 3, in <module>
                        ImportError: No module named wmi

please help.
been trying to fix the for about 20 hrs now sad

oh and update.exe doesn't work either gives me this error

I have the Error occured, see log file.
What are your system specs and windows version?

sytem specs are:

vista ultimate 32bit (SP1)
2gb ddr2 ram
nvidia xfx 8800 gt (alpha dog edition 256mb -  driver version - 7.15.11.7824)
pentium D 3.4ghz dual core

im downloading the 182.xx.... driver for the graphics now. so iw ill install that.

i had a similar problem. it said something about my game being the wrong version of the game or something. even though 2142 is up to date.

yeah zippo, there is one thing you can try.
uninstall bf2142, and FS.
then use a registry cleaner, and search for all the folders left over from both programs and delete them.
reinstall 2142, patch to 1.5, install FS 1.4
I know... seems like a lot of hassle to do this.
I know it doesnt always work too.
at least it didnt for me.
guess the only reason i keep coming back to the forums is to help people out and to see if theres ever going to be a fix.

Well, we worked with him on IRC to fix this for quite a while, not much else I have to say.  The path to his bf2142 is not being found in the registry by the launcher.  So something, I can only assume, is wrong with his bf2142 install.
