All of the guns in starwars (orriginal trilogy) are props from WW2 movies that were reused, with a few alterations here and there. Most of the guns were simply painted black with additional scopes.

I heard some of the WW2 guns were inspired by the SW movies. They saw they shot lasers and ze Germans wanted to shoot lasers. They didn't get very far tho.

(truth was that the SW blasters were actually compressed gas rather than lasers... I suppose it's why they weren't very successful in making SW-like weapons. Silly people.)
