Topic: Flagship Space Battles

I think FS needs some epic space battles. I mean like the StarShip Home One and a Super Star Destroyer and other big ships like that. I was thinking they could have around 10 people in one. The turbolasers could shoot slower than anti-fighter ones, but shoot faster than the heavy frigate ones. I also think they could do damage to fighters wherever they hit them, instead of the back or front. The starfighters could hit weaker locations on the capital ships. We could take away the fighters, and put some frigates in instead. I mean like huge ships vs. huge ships only and lasers would be going everywhere. You know in episode III, Grievous's ship fights a republic ship. The battles would be cool like that. Not just two ships. We could move the flagships too.

There is an "Edit" botton on the bottom bar of your post. I recomend using that instead of multi-posting in the future.

DUKE815: Teamwork's complicated.  I've found that ramming a Lambda with a Y-wing at full boost is most effective.

This idea has been presented hundreds of times before.

And just FYI, BF vehicles will hold no more than 8 players, including driver. And vehicles are not attachable to eachother. So we will never have vehicles with 10 spots in them.

Anything ISD sized or larger will have to be a static, so, Home 1, SSD would have to be static. However the SSD is just too massive to even put ingame anyways.

Right now we have the space map Taloraan, which features our largest vehicles, nebulon-B, and the Carrack. If/when we have a space battle that has the capitol ships like ISD and home one, they would most likely be static.

IMHO is a First Person Shooter like BF2142 not the right kind of game to feature a battle against a Super Star Destroyer.
Remember, such ships carry hunderts of fighters and operate as flagship of a fleet.
Even a FPS with 64 Players didn't have enough players to simulate such a big battle.
Games like Nexus, Freelancer or Homeworld are better suited for such a szenario.

But: First Strike has the modell of a Star Destroyer that holds a large part of the map (Escape from Hoth).
IMHO this modell can also be used to make a spacebattle map with the objective to destroy / board the SDS by rebell troops.

An ISD with a mapped out interior would be very interesting. As I posted before  Rebels could board via the hanger but instead of take flags their objective would be destroyables within the ISD. I know this is exactly what happens with the Titans in Vanilla but It would sure work well with a Star wars theme. As the ISD is static the lag experianced in vanilla shouldn't happen should it? It would also really bring the troop transport capabillities of Lambda into play.
