Topic: Regarding the Arguments.

Okay so I'm probably going to get banned for this, but it needs to be said.

I consider myself a fairly neutral person, and I'm not taking sides in this argument, but there is one thing you people should know.

I've seen many communities get ripped apart from the inside, and it's started from petty arguments like this. Someone takes offense to something and makes a complaint about it, the situation escalates when forum threads are created about it, people get banned by mods and then people leave out of protest.

I'm sure everyone of you understands how small and fragile this community is, and perhaps how some people dislike others. I'm not here to complain about the bans, that's down to the mods. But please just think for a second, if you're removing Gwynzer's admin on the DS server, what is that going to achieve? Seriously just come up with something. The argument is between him and Daddyo or whoever he is. The man knows how to setup Community Games and has been for a while, like it or not, Gwynzer knows what he's doing and preventing him from setting up the two most important days of the week, where people actually PLAY is not going to help.

Again, I am not taking sides here, I'm just being logical. Give Gwynzer his admin on DS back. You may not like him, but he is a dedicated tester, player and member of the community.

There are very few other active people provide on the spot admining every CG. I see Gwynzer at nearly CG, keeping order and making sure things are fair, making sure the map sizes are accurate to the amount of players on.

Let's get it together people, this is a fantastic mod, with fantastic players, developers and testers.

Thanks for listening, probably see you in 48 hours.

And by the way, Gwynzer didn't ask me to do this. I did it off my own accord.

Re: Regarding the Arguments.

My personal opinion is that regardless of whether or not I supported the ban, I'm sad to see Gwynzer go, as he was a hard worker who gets stuff done, not just in the server administration field, but also as a tester, PR guy, and the other tasks he was assigned.

I'll leave it to other people to elaborate on his actual ban.

Re: Regarding the Arguments.

His admin was revoked because he wasn't conducting himself in a manner that we like to see represent FS.

When you screw up, things happen. It was only because he refused to acknowledge his fault that this happened. He is still welcome to test and his ban on the forums will be up soon.

Once he learns his lesson maybe he will get his admin responsibilities back.

Re: Regarding the Arguments.

The people who were banned were banned for 24h only, to think about what they've done.  It was determined, from this current event, along with past incidents, and the fact that Gwynzer failed to recognize any wrong doing in his actions and instead just made threats, that he is not a good public representative for FS.  He was not removed from testing, this was something he chose to do on his own.  I respect Gwynzer, and I know he means the best, but sometimes his actions are not in the communities best interest, despite his intentions.

Also, the server will still be well maintained for CGs, don't fret about it.

Re: Regarding the Arguments.

I don't get why you guys think I take no rseponsibility in that... I know it was my fault because it was ME WHO WAS SAYING WHAT WAS SAID. Who else could it be?  I suppose we could always blame Omen.

Seriously, I know it was my fault, but frankly, I don't care. I think this issue was that if the incident came up again, I said I would do exactly the same as I did before, infact, I still would - I was attempting to stop someone teamhampering (only due to not knowing any better, not intentional) on my server. Those that host the server would have wanted me to kick or ban for that, they really can't stand teamhamperers. I didn't, instead I explained in blunt (but not, imo, mean) terms why the player was teamhampering, they take offense, all this squeezey pooh happens.  People are people, conflicts happen, not everyone agrees.

I was actually offended at some stuff going on in IRC yesterday while I wasn't there. I set up the CG like normal, at the time I was *TOLD* to do it after a DST faffup last week, then see people saying that they want to double check everything because they don't trust my judgement anymore. I thought you guys knew me better than that, I honestly did.  I've been doing this since the CG's started, I PLAY during the CG's, I thought you lot knew how important First Strike, and get it populated IS to me.  Instead, no, this fuckup (and yes, there have been others in the past that I acknowledge) gets everything I set double checked, and my powers removed.  I didn't see anyone around to maintain the CG yesterday after the server crashed... instead we started back at the start of the rotation, back on the maps designed for small playercounts.  Alot of people actually left because of that, including me.  Thinking back, I didn't even see the CG settings get turned off yesterday, I had to wait around for hours for Omen to come online and switch them back to normal.  I hope we aren't getting the same maplist as yesterday, it gets boring with two of the same rotation in a row!

For those getting the wrong opinion of me leaving my testership and anything else regarding the FS community on an 'official' level - it isn't because I lost admin rights, such as may it appear, or was being said on IRC after I quit (way to make the knocked down guy look bad). It's because recently the testing/dev team has became really stiff and can't take the smallest joke. It is because everything I say gets taken for its worse possible meaning.  Its getting ridiculous, obviously after this incident I just can't work with them anymore.

Thanks for those who had kind words to say, I really appreciate it. I've got to say I lol at Tyler speaking about "Conducting himself in a manner that we like to see represent FS", makes me think of those times when he really was the biggest dick you can be, maybe not now, still... tongue  For those of you who don't have kind words: smurf off, I know I am a Rude, Offensive Dick a large amount, at least I get things done instead of sitting around doing nothing.

From the way I see it, the team lost an asset yesterday. Not to important a one, but I know some people are going to find the fact I am not about more difficult.  If everyone loosens up again, and I'm invited back, sure I'll come but I can't see that happening any time soon. Any hey, its not as if I'm leaving... you can't get rid of a Gwynzer without a professional removal team.
