Topic: "deploy" on MP First Strike game causes CTD

when i select "deploy" on a Multiplayer game 2142 Crashes To Desktop.

any thoughts on what i can do to fix?

make sure you are up to date. Open your first Strike launcher, click "File" then "preferences", it SHOULD say that version is 1010, if not, run an update (File -> Check For Updates)

If it is up to date, post back.

DUKE815: Teamwork's complicated.  I've found that ramming a Lambda with a Y-wing at full boost is most effective.

I apologize. I should have been more thorough in the initial post.

It is a clean install of 2142.
patched current.

Install of First Stirke.
Ran launcher. Patched.

I have version 1010.

It could possibly be the server you were attempting to join is out of date.  That causes crashes on deploy.

If you haven't already, I belive the servers known to be running the latest version are:
DSGaming.net
RogueTribe.com
BlackIntel.org
RSF 16p Map Server

If you still crash on one of those, try going to your BF2142 install folder, go into your mods folder and delete all the files beginning with "FS_buildxxxx". Open your launcher, go to file -> preferences, set your "Version" to 1000 and then launch the game. This will re-download all the patches, as it is possible one got corrupted during download the first time.

ok..

i went for fresh install.

new 2142.
patched.
new first strike
new launcher.

*****  new problem :  now when i join a server. the game loads and then CTDs before i can press the "deploy" button.
(server was blackintel's)

any ideas?

Try clearing out your cache: my documents/battlefield 2142/mods/FirstStrike

delete the cache folder in there.
