Re: Strike at Bimmiel

my only problem, then, is where is a nice consolidated list of maps and mods, without all the text of reviews...just a comprehensive list where you can go, look at the title of the map/mod, and decipher where I download it from, etc.  I've downloaded countless maps for original 2142 and not many maps are actually showing up, or crashing the game....I'm not going to continue this line of questioning here tho:)  wromg forum, but thanks for the massively quick response...I appreciate people helping.  Oh! and if there is such list, I'm solely a single player, so it would be nice to be able to find quick resources for extended play.

Re: Strike at Bimmiel

Ah...

Well if you haven't found it, you would be interested in the First Strike Single player minimod. There is a sticky for it in general discussion.

Install that, it will be installed as a seperate mod to regular FS, so you will have to start FSSP to play single player, it doesn't add SP to the main mod yet. Then you can play SP on many of the First Strike maps, and if I'm not mistaken all of the 2142 maps, northern strike included, with FS asssets and soldiers, even a few custom textures.

This map unfortunately does not have SP support yet. I still highly reccomend getting the FS SP minimod though, there is an update coming out for it soon to add in a few more maps and extend the AI support of Mos Espa.

I don't know the site, but there is a battlefield single player website for all your BF2142 and BF2  single player needs. Just google it, most the resources will be in their forums in stickies and such.

The only way to check what mods you have installed would be to open the game and go to the community tab, custom games, that will give you a list. For maps, you have to go to: C:/program files/electronic arts/2142/mods/MOD NAME[or 2142]/ levels

each folder in there is the name of a map you have for that mod, but all mods will have different maps.

hope that helps.

Re: Strike at Bimmiel

You ARE helpful, thank you again.  I'll look into it...I'm aware of map locations and their proper folders, I've done a lot of downloading great mods and maps from the original Battlefield 1942 game and expansions, and other games.  What my main problem is is that many of the forums and download sites are so out of date, with a particular forum having a most recent update in 2006.  Either I'm not going to the right sites, or this internetz thing is beyond my aging mind.
I'm a non-paying member to Battlefieldsingleplayer.com and affiliate websites, but even there, a lot of info is just either missing, incorrect, or just plain gone.
I'd like to mod/map my own games, however I don't have the time or the knowledge necessary to do so.  I completely appreciate the work that's been done by the many mod creators and map hounds.  I just want to be able to appreciate them the best way possible, by actually being able to play them.
Eh, don't subscribe too much time, I've been playing FPS games since they've started...and have never gotten good.  I just like the places you can go...and a great headshot.

Re: Strike at Bimmiel

Well I cant do anything to get those people to update anymore, a lot of BF modding is slowing down, dying out. I know the Battlefield single player websites forums has a few FS and 2142-converted FS maps available. Unfortunately, the SP hoth map links are dead. That was probably the best FSSP map made so far.

Re: Strike at Bimmiel

Agreed...I kind of think the "companies" are doing bad things when they make a game, abandon it, then do the same thing when something "new" and "better" comes along...and then DO IT AGAIN!!  I know they are constantly trying to make better games, but sometimes, they should think about what they are doing.
I can't be buying new games every few months...i can't even get into the original game before I have to relearn everything:lol:
It looked to me like Hoth would've been THE stuff too!!!! such a shame.
