Topic: Greetings Imperials and Rebel Scum!

Hello everyone. I wanted to stop in and just say a couple things before I get back to gaming. I ran into this mod a while back and contemplated buying the BF2142 game for the longest time. I played all of the previous "Battlefield" games and just recently picked up the 2142 game.

Anyhow... I'm one of those purist Star Wars fans in that anything before the new three movies IS Star Wars and anything afterwards is garbage. tongue I can't stand the new movies, books, and games. Nothing irritates me more than Jedi.

So, when I saw this mod and that it didn't feature Jedi, I decided to jump right in. I've gotten some gametime in and I like what I see. There's a lot of options and different scenery which I'm sure caters to the majority. I like the locations, vehicles, etc.

Now I have run into a few problems like crashing when joining servers... but that seems to be a compatibility problem (with having different versions of the mod than the server). Hopefully something can be done to filter out those from my list (though I've found three I'm comfortable playing on now).

The biggest problem I've run into are lack of players. I've heard of the weekend game nights, but I work weekends so that doesn't help me much. I'm going to see what I can do to stop in before I leave though.

I hope that more people decided to take the plunge like I did and finally pick up this mod after it's been around for so long. I'm really looking forward to the future and I hope you guys keep at it. Hoth is definitely on my list of most anticipated elements of this mod. So I look forward to the map (if and when it comes out). Nothing like riding into battle in my AT-AT. tongue

Anyhow... glad to be here and I look forward to playing with you guys. Look for me in-game. My name is:

I just felt I *HAD* to mention that the 501st is a Clone Trooper group that features in the new movies, books, and games tongue

The 501st are the very first storm trooper legion ever seen in the movies Gwynzer, they stormed the TantiveIV corvette in A New Hope.

Re: Greetings Imperials and Rebel Scum!

They are a product of the Clone Wars as any unit of the Imperial Army and Navy are. But they're not Jedi running around like tools, or any such nonsense. tongue

I had a fairly in depth argument/discussion with someone before explaining that the 501st which was "supposedly" a clone only unit couldn't have possibly withheld its battle readiness when they lost as many men as they did. My argument was that human (non-clone) troopers/officers had to have joined the 501st ranks to keep it running. Since there were no cloning after the Clone Wars.

It's all debate-able... but the unit like any other is what current period makes them (taking as an example the 4th Infantry Division of WWII and then the 4th Infantry Division of present day... same unit designation, different uniforms, structure, weapons, etc). I'm interested in the original trilogy (the Galactic Civil War) not the rest of that media nonsense. Anything after the original trilogy up to about Thrawn is good for me. But after that it gets goofy again with the Jedi Order garbage.

By the way, TY2D2... the link in your sig is no good. It sends me to an error.

Re: Greetings Imperials and Rebel Scum!

Yup, I just leaveit there because 1) I am too lazy to remove it. 2) If I removed it I would have no signature 3) I actually was planning on using the base image in your sig as my own one day, then you showed up. 4) It is a testament to ASF, not equiped with a website, but still alive through myself and a few others... XD

Glad to see you were at least interested enough to check the link though, we're still the first despite what the DS nubs want to think.

Welcome to FS TK-3 (I'll call you that, or I'd get confused with all the TK's here)

Welcome to the forums TK-1129.

cool

...and yep the 501st have been around for the longest time. They may have only officially been mentioned by name in the prequel trilogy (George Lucas' way of honouring the 501st fan volunteer organisation that dresses up as assorted Imperials at official Star Wars functions and charity events), but they have been around since 1997, so in that respect you could say that the 501st pre-date the prequels, plus being a primarily Stormtrooper themed costuming group they are certainly of a more original trilogy flavour than a prequel one.
