Topic: Any Possible way to get the sounds from game?

Hi guys I am new to the forums here. But have been a player and fan of Star Wars for some time. I could not help but notice how dead on the sound effects and looks of this mod are. Very well done, You guys have it down to the "T"

I am now working a few projects here and been looking for some sound effects to go along with them. I am wondering if there was any possible way to get the sounds of the Tie Fighters and X-Wings from the game. Reason I ask is for one sounds damn good. Second they change as the throttle is increased and decreased. This is exactly what I am looking for.

This is going to sound far fetched but I have built my own Radio Control Tie Interceptor to fly around the yard. I am looking for the sound effects to work along with my throttle for when I fly it. I just need the sound part and will work from there to get it to work along with my throttle. What I plan to do is put a speaker inside for sound as I fly. No clue if it will work but I would like to give it a shot with my set up. I have a few friends here that has a bit more know how with stuff like that than can steer me in correct direction. It is electric so as it is now there is really not much of a sound when it flies. So hope to use this to add to the fun and realism.

Not sure if you guys can help me out here but if you could it would be great! As of right now I just started working on the X-wing Fighter. Early stages so small models as of now. It will be a while. So sounds for that would be great as well if possible.

I know this is asking a lot but any chance do you have a size comparison of the Tie Interceptor to the X-Wing? I took a few screen shots in game of them side by side but with the angled shot was hard to tell what was longer. I plan on making the X-Wing to scale of the Tie Interceptor I have already so they will be unique.

Hey I thought it would be worth a try to ask but if it wont work not a problem at all. I still can play the game! Oh yeah here is link to a video on the Interceptor. Just so you know i completed one of the projects. The X-Wing will be next!

Dude at first I was like "is this guy for real?"

Then I was like "lol?"

then I was like "Holy crap thats intense!"

Great job on that! I dunno how well putting speakers on it would work cause I have no knowledge of model airplanes etc but it would have to be a pretty powerful speaker to be loud enough to hear at range and also light weight... difficult since speakers use fat magnets hmm

Someone else will have to get back to you about using our sounds, though I personally don't see any problem with it. The files are in the mod already you would just need to find em.

Best of luck.

Awesome - I want one!

Great work that is

As to sound, you would probably need a battery pack as well, which might make it too heavy to fly.
Alternatively hook your cellphone to it and let it play the sounds tongue

Heh, that's pretty hardcore. Very cool model, one thing I will say is the cockpit needs to be a little larger I think to be to scale, very impressive.

Oh, and on the scale issue the X-Wing is a little longer if I remember rightly. I have a scale chart somewhere, will dig it up and post it when I have the chance.

Great job fella.

cool

big_smile thats fantastic mate! Very clever how u've kept the wings and control surfaces inside the model. As for the sounds i'm sure it wouldnt be a prob u using em, tho i havnt the rights too give you permission myself.

Top work buddy:)

Re: Any Possible way to get the sounds from game?

No one has told you yet:

To grab the sounds, go to your mods folder, Open up First Strike, unzip "Sounds_Client.zip" and the TIE Fighter soudns are under Vehicles -> tie.  X-Wings are in "_wing"

All the sounds are in .wav format.  If you want the sounds uploaded, I'll happily do that for ye.

Also, Nice model.

Re: Any Possible way to get the sounds from game?

Hey thanks for the nice comments guys. Yeah I figured it sounded like a bunch of bull so I put link to the video lol.

Yeah my cockpit is a tad on the small size but it came down to finding something round to use that was foam. The ball is 10'' and that was the largest I could find. Also my wings have more of a slant than the movie model but that was done for more lift. I cheated lol

As for the speaker got the idea the other day when I was at Walmart and my son and I was looking for a card for my mom. They had these huge greeting cards and they had the loudest speaker i heard inside. It literally blew us away cause they was so loud. I plan to use one of those since they are so light and tweak it some to make it louder.

Thanks for the location of the zip for sounds. I found them and have the saved to use. I have had the hardest time locating any kind of Tie Fighter sound that did not have a movie with it. And if I did find it they were very short bursts. These will work perfectly!

I thought the X- Wing was longer but was not sure. Very hard to tell by some of the drawings I found. I been trying to scale off the pilot and vary it between each to get a guesstimate length.

This should be a pretty cool addition the Tie and to the X-Wing I am working on now. Then I can stop making the sound effects with my mouth. haha

I feel like a kid again swinging around a flashlight making the sounds myself.

But thank you for the quick reply's and for you guys help. Very much appreciated!
