Topic: first strike.exe app crash after updating sept 2nd 09

i updated and now every time i load a map at the deploy button the first strike exe crashes to desktop
i tested and vanilla 2142 works np it just affects first strike and it worked prefectly before i updated this morning

anyone who can help pls  ill be watching and in irc

This will probably not make any difference, but just to be thorough, start by going to your My Documents folder, then navigate to Battlefield 2142\mods\FirstStrike, and delete the cache folder found there. Try loading up a local game and it should regenerate the shader files.

The biggest possibility is that some of your files got corrupted while updating. If the instruction above did nothing, try this:

1) Uninstall FirstStrike (and manually remove the FirstStrike folder if the uninstaller does not)
2) Remove the latest update (fsbuild_1013.zip) from Battlefield 2142\mods
3) Then install FirstStrike 1.4 again.
4) Use the newest launcher (http://www.woodat.com/builds/pubclient/ … .0.8.2.zip) and try updating again.

okay i tried everything you suggested neko it was all simple instructions i understood so i know i did it all right point being it still does the same one thing i noticed is when i played locally or single player it would actually stay running with the deploy button showing when i clicked it it sounded like i was selecting my gear and squad but the load screen stayed and i could not see the GUI

when i load a server up online multiplayer it loads untill its done and the second the deploy button pops up the game crashes and when i read the description of the crash it says the first strike exe was where the crash occurred would you like me to get the exact error  codes?

Just throwing some things out there, cause at this point i'm kind of at a loss. Have you tried disabling UAC? Have you set the launcher and firststrike.exe to run as Administrator? Have you tried enabling XP compatability mode on either of them?

edit: Did the crash give you any other information?

okay i tried all that my account is adim and everything i launch is as admin as well uac is always off i did double check tho
when i turned it to xp compatibility it said i dont have the cd in so i changed it back playing with it online heres some new interesting infos
black intel server running null sensor station works 100%

fs test server running bestine crashes
rogue tribe running ryloth crashes
wolf gaming running mos espa crashes
all crashes are the same when it loads and the deploy button pops up the fs exe crashes but the black intel running null sensor station works repeatedly over and over i can join it and play  dunno if that helps this is the main server i played on the other day when i got fs up and running i maybe never even tried the others but for sure they dont work and same with the local game thing where i cant see the gui but i can hear it and still see the load screen after clicking deploy..

okay this is a good one  remember how i crash when i load bestine on fs test server? well i dont crash when i load it on black intels server it seems black intel is the only server i dont crash on. hehehe lots of testing with this one today hope you check back here neko

FS Test Server is the Server for the Testsing Team, not for normal players
Rouge Trube isn't updated
WOLF isn't updated.   I belive BlackIntel is possibly the only updated server at the moment, thats why you can load there and no where else.

Looks like you've found the problem. FS Test Server is like Gwyn said for the testing team, it's not running the public version of FS. And like he said the other servers have probably not been updated yet.
