(my apologies to anyone I killed as they spawned. I'd do it again- but that wasn't why I was there and I know that wasn't fun to have happen to you.)

Not your fault - blame the mapper who put spawn points out in the open.

he changed a name of the people who can spawn jetpacks... it used to say Herbanator, now it says DUKE.
