Topic: Game crashes after loading a map and pressing "Deploy"

I know that this is a problem that almost everyone has and i cant find a good answer for it. I currently have version 1.4 build 1013 which was released august 31st 2009.  today is sept 12  and there are currently no new updates.
i have reinstalled FS TWICE and clear the cache thingy......i need help because i haven't even been able to try out the game

Well..thats not a lot to go on. Does it crash to desktop, or back to the server screen. Is it a server you're trying to join or singleplayer?

Bear in mind that trying to cause a server that is not up to date can cause a crash. Best server right now to join is the BlackIntel server. I know that one is definitely up to date, not all other servers may be updated yet.

Also, DO NOT join the FSTesting server. It is for use only by the dev team for testing new content that public players do not have and you will crash.

As for singleplayer, the battle of yavin is the only working singleplayer map.

sorry i forgot to mention that it crashes for both single player and multiplayer, and i also have an empty server list... but it loads all the way and when i click deploy it crashes to desktop and even the launcher is gone so i have to re launch the game again

Have you set up the server tab correctly, and if you see no servers, what are you trying to join?

I have the same problem...(i'm also new)...it crashes me to the desktop when i click deploy on multi...I have 1.3 since 1.4 installer doesn't work for me at the moment...It crashes me to the desktop and says "FirstStrike.exe has stopped working"...then 2 solutions.."check online for solution"(which obviously did nothing)...or "close the program"...i dunno what to do please help me!! sad

If you have 1.3 I cant help, since 1.4 is the current version. Even if you got 1.3 to work you wouldnt be able to join any servers. Sorry.

So do I uninstall 1.3 and install 1.4 now?

And what's a good website to download it from?
