Topic: Windows 7 & FS/BF2142

So I hear Windows 7 is supposed to be released on October 22nd.  Has anyone here tried FS or 2142 with the Windows 7 beta?

If so, any noticeable difference in performance?   ( Did you have to Alt-Tab to play Battle of Yavin, for example?)

I have and still do play FS on the Windows 7 RC beta. It runs much faster on my desktop pc than on my laptop (both are C2D at 2Ghz with ATI graphics, the laptop has 4gb of ram running Vista 64 while desktop has 2gb ram.) though there is a differance in spec I woul expect a desktop to outperform most laptops anyway.

I do find it runs much better on the Win 7 OS than on XP as well.

Cool, well that is good news, would be nasty to be facing a whole clutch of new problems with Windows 7. Just have to cross our fingers that it stays as stable with the final public release of this new OS.

Great!  I feel a little better about possibly making the move then.  Being able to have more Ram installed won't hurt, that's for sure.  And if that also puts the Vista/Yavin bug behind us, all the better. big_smile

I don't know about the Vista/Yavin bug. Afaik that is to do with the nvidia drivers for windows Vista, since I run an ATi card I do not experience it.

Yeah, unfortunately I have an nvidia card at present.  Heh I've been thinking of going back to Ati.  My nvidia has performed very well except for the artifacts issue.

I just installed W7 and FS on my laptop. Runs very smooth, no problems.
I have a Nvidia graphics card and on Battle of Yavin I had huuge lagspikes when enabling the 3D icons. BUT: It didn't crash smile As soon as I disabled them everything was smooth again. The problem still exists and has to be fixed though.
