Topic: New CG server!
waaaay. Questions:
What are the settings we'll be seeing on the server? (FF, Teamdamage, timelimits) Who are the admins (I've been made aware of twigs and talon right now, anyone else) What sort of maplists are we looking at? Very important: What is our rulelist. What is classed as roofing and what isn't. What will be the players limits for "misbehaving". That info needs public and fast. Are players totally blocked from changing team, or just clans? Who does it fall to to balance teams if they are uneven? Will the rulelist be plastered as it is Here or will it be available only via server auto message? Are Jetpax allowed? How much teabagging will be considered "Excessive"? Will group Teabagging be allowed, or will you be able to teabag other peoples kills? Can you teabag your own teammates, and importantly: can you teamkill and teabag twigs? Are we getting Demos? Will they be available from the community tab or will we have to go to a site (like BI's current setup) to dl them? Or, even better, are both available? Where is the server located? Will said Admins be there, or watching, the entire night to get the server back to where it was before if it decides to crash, and will said Admins be easily contactable in and out of game? Will they accept Bribes? Who is populating it this time, or is it going to be left to the clans to do the work, again. Or will we have the actual official FSers (Testers/Devs) getting on early (Ben just broke out in a fit of laughter as I typed that) populating it early? Benu is asking if there will be cake
All I can think of that is important right now.

Indeed the server settings are really important and the maplists need to make sense (not too small or large maps for current population) and the maplists need to vary regularly. We make a new one for each CG. If admins are needed, I'm volunteering.

What is this? A BI hijack before we've even got the thing up and running? To me this sounds like you're trying to instigate some negativity towards this server already. Choice for the players is a good thing and I'd rather you didn't derail that. I don't recall BI publicising their maplist and rules here on the site before it went live and I also note that BI have changed their rules to suit their style of play with regards roofing on some maps. This kind of stuff goes both ways, so keep it civil and show support rather than try to disrupt proceedings.

I do support it, but these are all important questions which I'd rather get out of the way now than have arguments over later. As for BI changing the rules to suit our style of play, that is simply not true. We set the rules after discussions, the rules got minorly changed after discussions. The only problem we've had with our rulelist and yourself, Twigs, is that you have a different viewpoint than we do on what certain terms mean. When that discussion came up, we edited the rulelist to state our meaning of the term. Our last edit was allowing Roofing on Bestine after a talk about it, before that the edit was explaining our meaning of the term "roofing". If you have an issue with our rules, or how they are enforced, I recommend we discuss it outside of this thread.

Don't be silly, Gwyn . Of course jetpax are allowed. Tea bagging, however, is forbidden on pain of kicking, and walking on buildings facing north-south or 30 degrees off of this angle is roofing, but only if you're SL and more than 40 meters from rocky terrain or a player with HWS kits.

FF on with proxy mine FF set to off. Timelimits I dont know, but probably around 12 seconds or so. This server will not be used purely for Community Games. Regularly, I'm not sure as of yet and it WILL change for CG's. It will have a healthy mix of various map sizes and will feature those maps that BI has refused to run, thereby re-enstating many of the assets players have been wishing to utilise more frequently. I expect full server rules to be posted on the site here when fully ratified. Why would a player be blocked for changing clans? Is that punishable at BI? Seems a very odd and draconian rule to me. As for team balancing, or you on about the numbers or skill? If admining a CG I make a point of swapping players to prevent clan stacking and ensure balanced teams. Only when spawned by the devs and certain testers to balance teams against clan stacking. As well as utilising the Jedi kit, Vader kit and Death Star Super Laser. If Benu has a problem with the attitude of ANY of the testers or devs and their attitudes to the game I will gladly discuss it over coffee and pistols. I mean cake. If the community do not wish to populate it thats their choice, but if it is decided that factions are deliberately sabotaging events in order to further their own gains then decisions will have to be made. Only team players get cake. As more is decided and ratified we'll post more. Though we may decide to change our minds in the middle of a game then smugly point out that the rule changes had been posted on the site and its up to players to frequent themselves with changes. Pure class. I should find that cynic switch and set to off.

Ie, the unbalanced maps such as Lok? Once there is a tankfix released (or even better, fix the actual map), sure, but in it's current state? That's the only map BI firmly puts it's foot down: We occasionally play Ryloth and the Rhen Var maps. Null causes crashes for a fairly large group of players, or just gives them a lot of memory issues. Personally, I love the map but it was removed from the rotation due to complaints. Clan players seem to be the ones who get noted of "Clan Stacking", even when it is the skilled non-clanners that actually swap teams to make them unbalanced. Clan players get noticed more, especially during imbalance, making them more likely to be swapped than a pubber due to the fact there are a lot of people on the same team with the same tags makes them more likely to be switched. Fair enough. Changing in the middle of the games is a little harsh; if players are in the server they should at least be told about the changes. So long as the rulelist is easily accessable that is fine by me.
