I disagree with not allowing Mos Espa Roof access in the mod.

That isn't the action that needs to be taken here. The problem is the radius of the CP, and a glitch with the officer beacon, and/or those buildings.

The spawn points in that CP need to be moved, and the radius may need to be made smaller or shifted.

The buildings have a glitch, then that needs to be addressed and tested, as well as the beacon to see where the problem truly lies. On EST there really just needs to be a few ladders added, and the radius needs to be tweaked.

Banning a play style is not the right way to approach this. However, until these things can be fixed in a patch, I agree that it is the only acceptable way to achieve balanced play.

Well stated, TY. This ought to be worked out and tweaked instead of trying to force people out of their play style.

...speaking of play style-related offenses, what's the deal with the little barrels that dot all of the Tatooine maps; the ones that can fit people in them? You're essentially impervious from ground-based ranged attacks if you crouch, but you can only shoot if you're standing, opening you up to enemy fire. Some people look down on those lil' barrels, but I've always loved to use them, just because a trooper popping out of a barrel always seemed so hilarious in my mind. Would using the barrels be considered glitching/exploiting? hmm

Since everyone is on a bugbear about the slave quarters thing, I'm sticking my neck out further by going over the actual glitch. Perhaps then people will understand why I am against roofing until such time as it is fixed.

While on the building roof if you spawn on an officer, (lesser chance of the glitch) or he deploys a beacon (greater chance of glitch), when a player spawns on the spot he can actually spawn inside the building. From this point he can see out of the walls but no one can see him inside, he can also shoot out through the walls while taking no damage.

So, say someone decides to exploit this by going officer, climbs on to roof and deploys beacon. Suicides and uses beacon to spawn and is now inside the building. He now uses his officer kit to deploy an eweb and is thus able to set up a 100% secure killing field.

Yes, i can see how that is perfectly acceptable.

Ok, someone could end up in a building accidentally by spawning on squad leader position, but being a fair player he immediately exits in to the courtyard, right about the time the enemy are running in. he can still see them before they see him and so once again he has an unfair advantage through an unintentioned glitch.

I accept that the majority of this community are good and decent players, but there are still that minority who would utilise it then claim ignorance after the fact. Added to that, there is still that possibility for it to happen unintentionally granting unfair advantages the player involved even if for a small amount of time.

I know that people already use unaccessible buildings to cover spawn beacons by throwing them through windows, allowing their team to spawn inside and exit via windows while preventing the enemy from destroying the beacon. Technically its not glitching and its quite an imaginative use of the maps environment, but some may argue it is exploiting a feature.

@S-guy, I guess no its not exploiting/glitching though being able to hide inside something that protects you from lasers and nades is pretty lame. At least vehicles can be destroyed tongue If you feel the need to hide from battle then go ahead but kind of takes away the point of trying to focus battles and maintain some sort of action.

Finally, @Ty. Please read all relevant posts related to this topic, even those not in public view. The glitch above is why I think roofing at that CP should be discouraged until it gets fixed, as I have already stated elsewhere. If you think its fine then ok, I know others that do. But IMO allowing continued action of something that can lead to a gameplay affecting glitch opens the door to allowing the use of other glitches.

BTW, if slave quarters is fine to roof because you can access it, and Bestine is fine to roof because you can access it, surely all roofing should b allowed since you can access them with a speeder bike. Specially EST, that should definitely be a roofing point cuase defending team has turbolaser towers to cover it so theres no reason we cant use it. And strapping mines to speeders should be allowed too cause its not the players fault if they dont fall off, its a design flaw so until it gets fixed its ok. I'll post back in a bit with some more.

Not in my opinion. You're fooling no-one if you are lying down, you can see your legs sticking out. You're vulnerable to anyone with a radar, as you can't see them while you are in 'stealth mode'.

Also you can't move, so its only any good for defense.

Any time I've been ambushed from a barrel (not many), the hilarity factor has overridden any sense of annoyance . Its hard to feel cheated when you are laughing your arse off.

Or something could be done about the grenade issue, if there is any way to fix it.

Excellent - one of my goals from the start was always to make it funny. There's just something about a stormtrooper popping out of a barrel that's so uncharacteristically weird. smile
