Topic: E3 Star Wars Game Trailers
Check these out if you've not seen them yet, typically sod all gameplay footage so it tells you absolutely nothing about the games, but I could watch a whole movie just made up of the stuff in these cutscene style trailers, awesome stuff, the Old Republic one is particularly gripping... http://www.starwars.com/video/view/001042.html But The Force Unleashed 2 trailer looks beautiful, and reveals a nice plot twist at the end, looking forward to this one. http://www.starwars.com/video/view/001041.html

Re: E3 Star Wars Game Trailers
@ The Old Republic What the hell was I watching? It was like a dirty crossbreed between SW (somehow, I have no slightest idea which bit) and LOTR. I had absolutely no feeling of Star Wars in it, good thing they had blasters, lightsabers and the original music in it to remind me it was actually supposed to be a trailer of a Star Wars game. I know Im the only one on the island of dislike with this but I cant see how this title is any relevant to Star Wars. I never liked KOTOR series either, since I couldnt immerse myself into the universe in which I thought I was going to be in since it had the SW opening sequence, but it wasnt what I got after all. Seriously, give me old school Galactic Civil War MMO or shooter for once. Where have gone the days of SotE, Jedi Knight and X-Wing vs TIE Fighter... @ The Force Unleashed 2 Now when I just started to steam out about not having my good ol' cannonfodder, the stormtroopers, gaining any attention for a good while, here comes a title that reminds me of the good ol' days of Dark Forces and Jedi Knight series. Altho I've got no idea whats the story behind this one since I never played first T.F.U to start with. And while I deeply appreciate that theres actually a Galactic Civil War title coming out again, I just dont get too excited about this guy (presumably protagonist?) saying "Vader cant stop me now". What, is the outcome of the upcoming battle going to be something else than this fella getting his pie handed to himself by the Lord of the Sith? I dunno, TFU2 seemed nice, but then again like The Old Republic trailer it didnt show the game itself. It only showed a cinematic movie about some dual saber wielding "dude" slashing stormtroopers and some droid that reminded me of Acklay. But, if I have to choose between these two titles, I'd definitely follow TFU2.

Re: E3 Star Wars Game Trailers
Trailers looked pretty cool. But I'm always a bit afraid that they make star wars it bit too much like dragon ball Z. That dual bladed lightsabre jedi was doing something that looked a bit too much like a kamehameha to me. I played a bit of star wars galaxies (a galactic civil war MMORPG), and it was quite fun. I stopped (before the space expansion was released) because I found myself grinding too much. The thing I noticed there was that I didn't really like the jedis walking around. I felt that in that era there shouldn't be too many jedis. I think that the old republic time period lends itself much better for that. For me both periods give me a star wars feeling, although I prefer the galactic civil war time. One of the things I love in the galactic civil war period is that a lot of things are a bit old. Like when you see the cockpit of an x-wing, everything is shaking a bit and wires are hanging around. I've never played TFU, only seen some gameplay videos of a guy walking through a level and swinging wookies from left to right, with an occasional force push if there were too many of em. Didn't look too attracting.

Re: E3 Star Wars Game Trailers
Have to disagree regarding The Old Republic trailer, I thought it captured the feel of an ancient Star Wars universe very well, and it definitely felt like Star Wars to me, the action beats and camera editing and mood nailed it for me. Obviously there are a few things that are off, such as having highly visible effects for powers such as Force Push etc, but these are elements and visual cues from the game, so obviously those are going to be in there and throw you off a little, but then this is a trailer for that game. Other than those elements I think it kicked arse. It will not make me any more likely to buy the game (played Knights of the Old Republic and loved it, but don't have the time or inclination to dedicate to a MMORPG), but as a piece of entertainment in and of itself? Very watchable. Each to his or her own. With The Force Unleashed they've definitely made the lead character just too powerful, and it comes across that way very much in the trailer, as it sucks the drama out of every scene because there is just no tension, but I have to say it does work quite well in the game and it is all kinds of fun smashing the game ennvironment and enemies to bits with the Force.

Re: E3 Star Wars Game Trailers
I saw the second SWTOR trailer when it came out, it was cool, but by the end, I was really annoyed. I mean, that armor is basically ripped of from the clone armor. It resembles the clone armor far more then the Stormtrooper armor does. AND that leader dude looks like Jango/Boba. Very similar. Then, we get this Bastila Shan look-alike who battles against this Sith dude, and the two end up to be far more powerful than Yoda and Palpatine! In the first trailer, there was some stuff that annoyed me too. The Vader/Malak look-alike... Find something new, honestly, I would like to see a Sith lord whos face is not destroyed in some way. Plus, those starships are too similar to the Star Destroyers. In KotOR one and two, we could see similarities, but they weren't exact copies of the movies. The SWTOR ones are. I guess the main reason I'm mad about this is because they completely abandoned the KotOR 1 and 2 storyline. Revan, the exile and their buddies should be back, but now it looks like Bioware is going to kill Revan off just for the sake of this MMO. KotOR 3 was in pre-development, but it got canceled. Go read about it. I'll admit, SWTOR DOES look nice, but they are making a new storyline while destroying a great one that hasn't had an ending. I want the KotOR characters to be back, and they can't leave Revan in the unknown regions forever, no Star Wars story ends like that.

Those two were old men, being in their evening of life. Some were never trained for war. Luke for example. The only lessons he had were those with the dying Yoda... But I know what you mean and I agree. Seems like they only care about the action Well, that's what a cinematic trailer is about anyway. The funny thing is that the sith in the second movie (Hope) is the same as in the first one (Decieved). In 'Hope' that emp grenade or whatever it was bruised his face so he had to wear a mask in 'Decieved', which played after 'Hope' :-P Additionally I'm sure you'll be able to play a Sith without a mask. So make your own hero ^^ Slyfox_Elite wrote:I guess the main reason I'm mad about this is because they completely abandoned the KotOR 1 and 2 storyline.
Did you watch those Timeline trailers? http://swtor.com/info/holonet/timeline The last one (it goes backwards) is about Revan and Malak. So they haven't completely abandoned it. I'm sure he will play a role. The story was too good to be just left aside. And I'm sure they know that better than we do^^ I'm not so into MMO's but since you can play it as if it was a singleplayer RPG with a Co-op mode I'm definately interested And maybe that will get me interested in the other MMO's aspects like raids, PvP, crafting and whatnot.
