For those who have attempted to run First Strike servers, many will have experienced the problems caused by the exiter.exe which runs whenever the server starts.  For some, it causes no issues at all and works as intended, however for the majority of people it causes problems including stopping the server from running, memory leaks, and CPU hogging.

BlackIntel have always had issues with the Exiter, and we managed to bypass it completely on our last Dedicated Server Box. However we acquired a new box recently and during install of the server we decided to design a permanent fix to the problem rather than a undesirable workaround.  StealthEye, a BlackIntel Administrator and Coder has came up with the following replacement exe for server owners:

Just replace this with the exiter.exe located in your server folder, and it does the magic itself.  It has the same function as Exiter.exe, and works for all windows versions we've tested with.  The sourcecode is available for this file upon request, including the original broken python, fixed python and C++.  Seye also tells me it's likely that you'll need to install this for the program to function.

I'd like to add that this has only been tested on BlackIntel owned boxes, or those which belong to our friends.  We've not had any issues with it, but this doesn't mean you won't.  BlackIntel doesn't accept any liability for damage this file may cause, although we can't think of anything which would make the file do any damage.   If you need any assistance, let me know here or contact Seye directly using the details on the BlackIntel Staff Page.
